Know what I'm about to puke over now? Pop groups. Yeah, Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, 98 Degrees. Yeah. People call 'em "boy bands." Thing is, they aren't really bands, are they? I challenge ANYONE to prove me wrong. What do they play? Can you PLAY a drum machine? NO, I don't think so! You can RUN a drum machine. Much like you can RUN a car, or you can RUN a hot dog stand. It's not so much that I'm challenging if the "BANDS" are good or not. It's that I'm hard-pressed to take 'em with the tiniest bit of credibility, when I know they're gonna fade
fast. It's like women: I can't really take you seriously when I know you won't be around tomorrow morning! You don't have to cook or anything. Just part on good terms. Speaking of which: Brittany Spears!
If you leave now, I'll try not to hold a grudge against you. We don't need another Madonna. We didn't really need one to begin with. I think Madonna's ok and everything. She's been around longer than any other
pop novelty because she refused to go away, so I guess I just got used to her. Tell you one thing: in a steel cage match, I'd place my money on Madonna. She might be able to kick my ass. I like women like that.

I am with you on everything but the Drum Machine thing. The Backdoor boys and Nsuck dont touch drum machines.

Drum machines require skill and you still have to have the music inside you and the complete i say again the complete understanding of music to even begin to compose effectively on a true sequencer or drum machine. You just cant hop on a MC-505 and expect to pound out the next big dance hit. It takes skills.

Ok. I think techno is different. Techno is not exactly a well-respected form of music, but I think it's getting there. It's certainly loved. I myself have many techno cds.

What I was talking about, though, was how a group of models who have the ability to sing, lose more credibility when they fall back on drum machines to do their dirty work.

When techno is done for the sake of techno, I can dig that. It's all about the electronics, then.

Don't tell me you classify Backstreet Boys as techno.

I do some programming and there's definitely value in techno. I do not think that 85% of rap music is worth a damn because of the vast amount of recycled stuff.

There is nothing like four guys banging away at instruments.

I Don't think its such a matter of Automated drum loops. I beleive the problem with these "Bands" (if you could call them that) is that they're not true bands. They didn't get together in someones basement practice there asses off and fight there way throught shitty gigs and tiny clubs to finally be discovered and start the rise to fame. But instead it was "Hey mommy, some Fat guys in suits are looking for some doll faced boys for a new music act. Lets sacrifice these evenging standard routine of watching Tv and drive down to the local Gym and Audition instead." Next thing they know little girls are "discovering" themselves for the first time by your picture on the side of their Lunchbox.

Thank God i can agree with someone on here! GOD I hate these crappy boy bands, no that is an insult to the word Band, Boy groups. This Homomoginzed, mediocre, quasi, semi-radioactive shit! Its poison to the Soul and is an insult to anyone who has taste of any kind, from the looks, it appears not many do. Why else would they exist and Why the hell is "Suddenly Susan" and "Veronica's Closet" still on the air?, but i digress.
I realize boy groups, teen idols, whatever they are called this hour, have been around since ELvis went into the Army, but it seems there are more every year and they get progressivly worse. Whatever happened to real artists who wrote and or actually sang? Take these little shits away from the others and they are just another vapid pretty face, Hacks!!! ALL of them....who's with me?
