I'm glad I had the stamina to outlast him. His posts nearly soured me on the boards.
On a related note, I seem to have advanced past the "poke me with a sharp stick" phase of newbie-hood. I'm now a "children of the corn." Woo Hoo!

Huh?
What the?
Promote myself???? Huh?
I collected autographed screenplays for everyone I promised tapes to over the weekend. One of my actors lives over 4 hours away, and I had to do a television show there - Tampa. I live in Palm Beach. I wanted Mr. Cassinelli (the lead) to autograph the scripts. For the record, my business partner was given them a few days ago - and he mailed them away (priority).
As for not being on the boards - I've been SHOOTING A FILM, people - and am on a friend's lap-top. Someone kindly told me what was going on here.
Click on my name. Go ahead. Look at all my posts. Johnny's nast comments toward me are a fucking insult. I did not come here - or to any board - solely to promote myself. I post on many other topics. And, if you people believe that ungrounded commen - than you can fuck yourselves as well. I've been nothing but honest here. I'm not an ass-kisser. As for dipshit Bookwalter - most of you just defended him because of his name and status. When he visited here, he didn't post on any other forum. And, in private email, when I asked him to post on other topics...well, he didn't want to dignify that with a response. Here's the difference - he don't give a shit about you. I DO (believe it or not) - and this is why reading this hurts. You all feel the need to jump on a 21 year old who took EVERY GOD DAMN cent he had in the world - and TONS he did not - to make a movie for fans of a dying genre. I've gotten NOTHING BACK AS OF YET - and I don't mind - cause everytime someone enjoys it - I feel good. Like I gave a horror fan something they liked for once - instead of run-of-the-mill studio shit. I'm no saint - and I'm not saying I am. I just think it's sad you people hold grudges. Even I'm not mad at moron (Bookwalter) anymore. Not mad enough to start a thread on him. Oh - and for the record - he's the one that used you folks. He's the one that got press. Not me. I didn't gain shizit.
What am I? A bad guy because I speak what I think. I don't lie. PERIOD. And I sure as fuck didn't come here solely to promote myself. I think you can see this by clicking on my name and reading what I've written.
Oh - and I continued to post nearly every day until a little over a week ago - when I took off to film on the west coast. I was back yesterday.
Very classy, folks. You complain about me complaining about someone who actually shit all over me. Now, I come here - support the board, spread the word to LOTS of friends who have joined, and you people shit all over me - I never did anything to anyone here. Oh - and to insult me Johnny, real nice. I'm sorry I sent you Beware now. You were nice when you thought you were getting another free video. And that was a little over a week ago.
Sorry I don't kiss ass and post how I feel. Sorry I CARE about the state of horror films. Sorry I try to do my best to weed out the folks that sell us short by putting no effort into their projects. Sorry I want to make a difference. Sorry I want to anger up people enough to make a change. Sorry you all feel like I'm a fuck for speaking the truth and not selling myself short. And for MY posts souring people - I'm actually sorry I posted an apology for when I thought I had been harsh. And - for anyone I ever thought I offended on here, I took the time to write each one of them a heartfelt apology. I never ever wanted to hurt anyone's feeling. I'm just an agressive debator - and that was my major (along with t.v. production) in high-school.
Sorry I can't post every fucking day - I do actually work on films some of the time. I haven't posted anywhere else, either.
And - finally, I'm sorry I TOOK THE TIME to have the screenplays autographed. I'm also sorry I took MONEY out of my own pocket to make the copies, photocopy the scripts, and mail them to certain individuals.
Over and out.

Well, welcome back!
My comment about you was not "nasty", Michael, it was an observation put forth in a sarcastic tone. My observation was that once you set foot on these boards it became the Michael A. Hoffman Show. We've had people here that've made their own movies, hell, Bill Johnson made one of the coolest indie films I've ever seen, and he doesn't feel it necessary to promote his film all the time, or complain how much money and time he spent making it. He made a movie, he gave it to people he thought would like it, end of story.
Maybe he's not the best example, since he has a history in the film industry anyway, but you get my point. You've done nothing but antognize since you got here, and we all got tired of it. Simple.
And as far as being "nice" just to get 'Beware', well, that's just silly. If you or he wants to promote his movie by having it reviewed by the Creature Corner, then they'll send me the movie. The last thing I'm going to be is "nice" in order to get it. I don't need it. I have plenty of movies I can review without having to be nice, or even interact, with anybody. If you want the promotion that having your indie film reviewed on a website will give, I don't need to be nice to anyone.
ANYWAY, enough of this. Perhaps you should have contatced the winner and let him know the status of his prize and all of this could've been avoided.
Michael A. Hoffman

I aplogogize then, Johnny. I took your comments the wrong way.
As for contacting folks - well, I let one know about the autographed screenplays. They take a time to round up. As for the others, well - I really didn't have the chance. I headed out to Tampa nearly 10 days ago without warning. I actually LOCKED a BIG location!
I have no hard feelings toward you - and hope you don't toward me. Beware should be there soon.
Cheers.
Mike

Oh - and just ONE MORE THING.
I almost wish I hadn't made a film. I hope everyone here realizes this shit Johnny keeps writing about me only promoting myself is untrue.
Love me. Like me. Hate me. Whatever. Just don't call me a liar.
I will back the fact that my posting my opinions here has NOTHING to do with the fact I make films - and take offense that someone is obviously telling me I'm lying. That is wrong. A lot more wrong than ragging on someone for being a shithead. I'd rather be called an asshole than a liar - cause, quite frankly, being a liar is the worst thing anyone can be.
Calling someone a liar is a lot worse than calling a person a shithead. Believe me. That hurts.
And I'm NOT FUCKING here to promote myself.
I posted like this on boards before I made a movie. It just so happens I found this board and posted on it after Johnny reviwed my film to show my appreciation for his time. I didn't want to ask for his help promoting my movie (be reviewing it) and then not visit his board. Then, I found I like posting here.
Oh - and rocket scientists - do you really think this whole fiasco here really helped me make any sales? Fuck no. Does anyone who's read my comment now want to go out there and buy my film? I HIGHLY doubt it. Pity. Maybe I should just lie and be indifferent to serious issues. Maybe I should live in fear of how I post because some folks may not like me. Or - I should write the truth and tell people how I feel - Wait! That's promoting myself (I don't understant)! I can't win either way.
Yes, I will admit to plugging myself on here when I first arrived. However, PLEASE click on my name and see how many posts I've made - and what the subject is. I think you'll see I have more than enough reason to be offended by Johnny's comments. And calling me a liar really does hurt.
End of story.
Tony Ryan

When did he call you a liar, fuckfire?
Michael A. Hoffman
06-01-2002, 05:56 PM
Hollow Point - I'm a fuck for what?
I don't get you people!
What did I do? Post my comments on a subject and you didn't agree with them? How does that make me a fuck? If you had agreed - would I still be a fuck?
It's nice to see you folks are so understanding. On this board, someone's either a fuck or a great guy. There's no inbetween. And - obviously, if someone says or does something you don't like - they are a fuck. End of story.
Well, thanks for the chance Hollow Point! You're quite the humanitarian. Even I try to make friendly with folks I don't get along with.
See - even though you PERSONALLY INSULT ME (which I wouldn't do to you) and call me a name - I would still give you a chance. However, you dislike me for insulting someone or their work in what you think to be a improper manner. However - by you calling me a fuck - how does that make you any better than me saying Bookwalter sucks? Think about it...
Michael A. Hoffman
06-01-2002, 06:02 PM
Tony Ryan - he called me a liar in the worst way.
His original comments stated that I came here to only promote myself.
Then, I responded that I didn't do that and listed the reasons why.
Then, he responded (and Bill Johnson copied his comments) again repeating how I promote myself here.
See - by him accusing me of something, then my respondind saying I wasn't doing that, then his responding to say I was doing that is essentially calling me a liar - because, in his opinion, I was and I am not posting the truth.
And people - please. Stop with the name-calling. We can have a debate without getting that ugly.
I will never call anyone a fuck or fuckfire - and essentially, you are all doing to me what you are mad at me for doing in the first place - which is posting nasty comments toward an idividual.
Please only call me names if I do something to you personally. Thanks.

I made an 8 min. video thing in hight school it was a horror story but ended up being a comedy with a toy I had as a villian, Its floating around here somewhere. I should watch it again its a fun movie even if I'm in it.
lond live the Devil's Crusade (yes thats the name of it, hell I was only 14 or 15 when I made it leave me alone)
I'll stop talking now
Michael A. Hoffman

No - you all promote being by stating stupid things like I'm here to promote myself. I don't even mention my being a filmmaker in 90% of my posts. YOU are the ones promoting me by saying this.
Oh - and I'm not crying. I'm just trying to make a point. Is everyone here really this hard-headed? Is anyone here ever wrong aside from me?
Django

Yes, others are often wrong. But not here in this case.
It takes more than shooting a movie in your backyard and being pissed at Full Moon to win affection around here.
Shit, Full Moon owes half of us money...
Michael A. Hoffman
06-01-2002, 10:18 PM
Okay - See - this is my point. Who gives a shit that I shot a movie in my "backyard"? I don't think it matters if I were the director of T2. Can we just get over the fact I shot a film? That is my point. It's totally irrelevant to this issue.

If I made a film I'd be pimpin' it where ever I went
I would also write a song called pimpin my film. it would be good, everyone here would like it.
ok so I'm trying to add some humor to this topic and it dosen't seem to be working.
but I must find "The Devil's Crusade" its around here somewhere....
hmmmm....

Apologies for this Johnny, I know we all want this thread to sink to the bottom where it can rot, but I got an e-mail about this, and my inbox is sacred...
Hoffman,
For fucks sake. Did anyone else get an e-mail from Mr Hoffman as well? How thin is your skin anyway? You appeared out of nowhere, dragging some personal vendetta with you, and repeatedly made posts to promote your film. Then ran ad-hoc competitions on the message board to promote the film. You made long, bitter posts directed at certain people and dragged them into a public argument, and then turned round and decided it had all been a terrible mistake. And promptly vanished.
One of the people who won your impromptu competition posts to see if anyone else has received their prize, and this stirs up various responses ranging from the sarcastic to the nasty. Did it ever occur to you that the reason the mention of your name prompted such a response was because of the way you acted to start with? How many other people on this board get that sort of response?
For the record, all I posted was a short and sarcastic comment about how your original posts made you seem "polite and well-balanced". Followed by a fucking big smiley to show that it was a JOKE. Read your original rants again. They are neither polite or well balanced. Go out and buy some skin-thickening cream or something. What you received was a fraction of the venom you spewed at Full Moon and Bookwater - but here you are crying foul again. And mentioning repeatedly that you're a filmmaker, but it doesn't matter. Until the next time you mention it.
If you have a problem with things people post about you, then learn to deal with it. Someone called you a "fuck". Boo hoo. As far as Internet flames go, that's level one. If you're happy to launch your own vendetta's on here, without provocation, don't start crying when you reap the whirlwind. And don't send me a rambling angry e-mail whining about a nine word fucking joke, and then sign it "peace, love and understanding".
You seem very tightly wound and insecure. It isn't healthy. Seek help. Seriously.

Dan Whithead - Actually - my response wasn't angry at all. Sorry you took it that way.
As for my response - well, I just don't like when folks insinuate things that aren't true. Such as - "I'm only here to promote myself" - or - "I disappeared when the shit hit the fan". Those are lies. I was on the other side of the state!
Now - if you all posted the truth and insulted me for what I am - for instance, you if guys said I was a "400 pound homodexual who likes to sleep with sheep and lure little girls into my car with candy" - well, then - it's true - and I wouldn't be so damned hurt!

"The Tongler" (1965) American International Pictures. After wrongfully being impaled, burned at the stake, crucified, and forced to listen to Frankie Avalon songs for witchcraft, Vincent Price returns from the dead and exacts revenge on his enemies by taking a pair of tongs and beating the crap out of them. One of the little-known entries in the Roger Corman library. Also starring Barbara Steele as Price's hunchbacked female assistant, Monga. Special Guest Appearance by Boris Karloff as the Pope.
