I spent some time last night reading through every interivew and article that I could to get myself pumped for the film. In one Eli said that all of his favorite horror films were made for under a million dollars. I'm just wondering if Cabin Fever itself falls into this group. I'm guessing it doesn't. Does anyone have an estimate?

Thats another thing too that I read over and over again. No one that knows will say how much was spent. I would think that this is because it's a damn lot. I mean if it wasn't wouldn't they atleast drop hints as to how much it cost. If not to show Hollywood they can make great buzz films cheaply, then to inspire a lot of other people the feel that maybe they could make a movie that will be recognized themselves.

Let me try this just one last time. I'm just looking for a rough, well informed idea.

A lot less than you think!
BTW I really like the new poster. It looks a bit like Ghost ship's, with the skull in the background, but it's very cool. A whole lot better than the teasers with the face on the tree or the hand scratching the back anyways.

The poster is very, very cool. Much better then the one that was out before of the ghostly face over the tree. It has the elements of the best horror movie posters of the past 30 years. The cabin looks very Evil Deadish, but in a good way.

Well as you've noticed Eli himself doesn't say anything about it, so I don't know if it's ok for me to tell.

I read in an article somewhere (but where?) that the cost to make Cabin Fever was 1.5 million.
The story did not sound speculative but whether or not is was accurate or not I haven't a clue. I'll see if i can find it again.

the budget estimate I found too was $1.5 million.

also, I found an article interviewing the producer. in it she discusses what most of the money was spent on "the makeup"

That is a lot less then I thought it was going to be. I was worried that Eli was keeping it a secreat because it was 10 million or something.

I can kind of understand why he'd want to keep it secret. Sometimes if you know a film is a certain budget beforehand, you'll be able to judge the film more on how it's made, not like, "so, what were they able to accomplish with this amount of money?"
I know it helps me sometimes. *shrug* Just a speculation.
