Why? you ask. Bruce Campbell just had a book signing at my very favorite book store and I missed it. I just thought I'd share the misery.

So this Bruce Campbell guy, he's an actor of some sort? And he's in a book? You kids today, I never know what floats your boats...

Now to ease Samurai X's conscience a little, YES I do know who Bruce Campbell is! wink

I wish he'd come a little more north for these book signings, I mean even Michigan would be cool. Just somewhere that I can run into the man and get him to mark up my book a little...

I guess I'll just have to wait and hope...

You'll get another chance. He's not doing anything else these days...Beneath the slippery veneer of Django brand sarcasm, he's got a point. Bruce does loads of signings, and plenty of convention appearances. If you want to meet the guy, chances are you will. This isn't a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Heck, provided you don't act like a dick, you can just e-mail him and he'll reply.

I went down to get the Legendary Christopher Lee to sign a couple of things for me and Danny Whitehead at Forbidden Planet in London.
But the queues were so mental i couldnt even get into the shop, let alone get him to scribble all over my WickerMan DVD.

I also believe that Campbell is this decade's winner of The Michael Biehn Achievement Award for Fucking Yourself Out of a Better Career.

Cause this last decade's worth of product is JUST SO VERY much quality. You know...

Just saw an ad for Serving Sara. At first I thought it was cool that Bruce had face time in the ad. Then they actually mentioned Bruce Campbell's name when announcing the cast. They seem to have some confidence that the audience knows who he is.

Django, I'm coming back to fight for Campbell's honor when I have more time...

Didn't Campbell just wrap shooting some SciFi Channel movie with Sean Cunningham? "Terminal Invasion?" And he's doing the festival circuit with "Bubba Ho-Tep." And he just finished up doing "Shane" on stage in the Midwest. And he's promoting the paperback of his book (with added chapter) with another tour hitting everywhere he didn't hit last time. And he's got a movie hitting this weekend in "Serving Sara."

I'd say this may well be the busiest Bruce has been in some time (outside of the six months he spent shooting the entire run of the "Jack of All Trades" series).

Paramount has ALWAYS given Campbell face time in their promotional campaigns.

Judging from Campbell's book, he seems very comfortable with his B-Movie place in life. Smaller projects allow more freedom and control, while parts in big films offer exposure with big Hollywood politics and beaurocracy. He's wrestled with the idea of becoming huge-mega-action-star and it's not for him. He probably wouldn't turn down more money or more high-profile gigs, but I'm sure he doesn't think he's "fucked himself out of a career."

That's just nasty.

If I ever had the opportunity to break into film I would rather have his 'freedom'.

Although being adored by millions would be interesting... wink

Everytime some mainstream filmmaker throws him a bone and puts him in their flick, Campbell fails to shine.

Name me one acting gig of his since Brisco County that was good, cool, or let alone solid...
