I was finally able to see the unrated version of Dead Alive last night, after being raped by Blockbuster a couple of weeks ago with their "R" rated hack edited piece of crap they offer.

Needless to say, those 15 or so minutes that they added back in make the movie make more sense. Now I understand why it has the rep as the goriest movie of all time. Whew. There was some nasty stuff in there. Great special effects though, I can't even begin to guess how they did a lot of that stuff in the pre-CGI days.

This movie gave me and the friend I watched it with a lot of hope for LOTR. If PJ can do this with such a small budget, I can't wait to see what he is gonna do with 400 mill.

Do they show any more of the lawnmower scene?

Yes, there's more of the lawnmower scene. Much more.

But chenzzo, remember what I was saying about the editing? Between the live action and special effects props? Flawless. On further examination, it appears that there is some matte work involved, as well. Jackson is a master of camera trickery. Go rent Heavenly Creatures if you want to get even more excited about LOTR-It shows that not only is he great with a camera, he can, when left to his own devices, create beautiful fantasy worlds and characters and situations full of depth and meaning. Creatures also lets you in on something Jackson posesses that you might not sense from watching Dead Alive-

subtlety...

Subtlety? What's that?

Sarcasm? Yeah, right!
