Meg....or The Trench

Does anybody have any info on the Steve Alten book Meg or The Trench being made into a movie. I heard Disney scrapped Meg and Alten was working on getting The Trench made instead. I wish they would do Meg instead since that focuses more on the actual shark. It could be an awesome movie, especially if they cut down on the CGI, or make sure that the CGI they use is worthy, unlike Deep Blue Sea, for instance.
