Only worth seeing for the Jay and Silent Bob cameo if you ask me.

I'm looking forward to it. I liked "Scream." I laughed pretty hard. Even though it was milking the audience for every cheap shock and thrill, it was still fun. Scream 2 was all right (I got pissed about Randy and the end of the movie; his mom? WTF?! out of nowhere, for no reason other than to finish the movie). It was more of the same, but I still thought it was fun.

For number 3, I think it'll be fun, and it'll be the end of a trilogy. I'm going.

The first one was good because I liked the way it mocked the slasher genre. The second was only good because it mocked bad sequels (other than that it sucked). SO - that said - I don't see where this movie can go...It trapped itself. The third installment just won't have anything going for it, it will end up a clone of 2, or it will become the type of slasher that the first two movies mocked.

I'll still take a look though since ma boys Jay and Bob are making a cameo...but i don't expect much from the movie as a whole.

Gotta disagree, gentlemen. Craven is a solid director when he puts his mind to it, and this movie will likely be his swan song from the horror genre into a permanent stay with mainstream directing (anyone see the Streep movie he did?).

Craven will do his best to make the third movie and adult thriller, and less a teen slasher. Oh, there will still be some elements of the first two movies, but I would bet on a movie with more psychological suspense and character development with less gore and scare tactics.

Cap out...

He'll never top The Serpent & The Rainbow or the first "Nightmare".

Nick speaks the truth. I do have to say that the main reason I'm looking forward to 'Scream 3' is the absolute lack of that piece of shit good for nothing hack Kevin Williamson. I have a lot of resenment for that little prick, in case you couldn't tell.

I loved both Screams and look forward to the last one, i hope it is anyway. Scream reinvented the slasher genre and gave it a self-mocking style that we had never seen before...If u don't like it, don't watch it..Craven, when he wants to can be a great Director. His future is good if he wants it to be. I certainly hope he can top Serpent and the Rainbow, that flick stunk to high heaven!!!!!!!for those who enjoyed them, i say bring it on.

For that comment, Zod, I'm going to shrink wrap you in another cheap mirror for a few thousand years and stick you with Jan DeBont and Chris Makepeace, the star of MY BODYGUARD.

When you are released from your flat incarceration you will know justice, and The Serpent & the Rainbow will be your friend.

Scream was hilarious, and such a welcome change from the standard horror we had been getting for so long. Freddy's Dead, anyone?
But honestly, I thought Scream 2 was too derivative of the first one. And the guy's mom, come on. In the first movie you could have maybe guessed who the killers were, there were clues, but in 2, it was just too off the wall. I gotta admit, I still liked it overall and am waiting to try and drag my wife to see part 3. It will be so easy to scare her for weeks afterward. HEEEEHEEEEEEEHAAAAA
Maybe she'll come along quietly, she loves Silent Bob!, ya know what I'm sayin!

Well, I was short on ideas for the CHUD FACT today, so I stole from it.

I guess it's not stealing if it's mine.

Oh shit, Elton John. I've become Elton FUCKING John.

The next three weeks of chud facts:

General Zod in the Wind.

Candle in Chris Makepeace's Wind.

Goodbye Terence Stamp
People only knew you as the villainous leatherboy, that menaced planet earth-
Banished from your Krypton, Marlon Brando sent you away, and you floated endlessly, with a man-child and some broad-
It seems to me, you lived your life like a Candle in the Zod...

I'm sorry, I think the accident hurt my head.

Maybe I'm the one with a head injury?

Jason Pollock

I'm not sure why, either. I'm kind of terrified that it came out of me. But I really DID nearly die last night in a car crash, and they say that does funny things to a guy.

DJEvil

Yeah, cars can really tear your unicycle up.

Jason Pollock
01-15-2000, 12:33 AM
You have a unicycle?

A guy hit my van last night, spun it 360 degrees and rolled it. I had to climb the seats and get out through the passenger side. Of course, when I stood up on top of the van, I thought of Friday the 13th Part 6:Jason Lives, when Jason stands on top of the burning RV. It seemed so fitting (my name is Jason). Then I got dizzy and fell down.

Nick Nunziata

While on top of your van, you should have done the "Leatherface Dance"

For the record, the "Leatherface Dance" consists of standing someplace prominent (Mt. Rushmore, Everest, atop Rosie O'Donnell's dying braying fleshbag, Cleveland, or at the junction of the Jersey Turnpike and the Trail of Tears) and shake your fictitious chainsaw high above your head in a demonic stutter step.

That is all.

Jason Pollock
01-15-2000, 09:55 AM
If I was a little less rattled, I may have thought of that.

I do have pictures from a trip to NYC from a few years back of me doing the Leatherface Jig in Times Square...

I will defy u... Non & Ursa will join me in my rebellion, "Serpent and the Rainbow" bites, it wallows in its atmosphere and special effects. Don't make me kill Chris Makepiece, on the other hand i want to ask him what it was like to work with Lee Majors (the real Steve Austin, not the phony wrestler) in that sci-fi flick were cars were outlawed.....

There's a Jay and Silent Bob Cameo?!?!?

Jason Pollock
01-23-2000, 02:44 AM
That's the rumor. Kevin Smith fanned the flames when he said on the View Askew site, "You won't believe where Jay and Silent Bob show up next..."

Supposed to be Scream 3.

DJEvil

Hey, maybe Wes wised up and made them the killers. I'd watch that every day until it left the theaters and buy 10 copies of it on tape.

I have little doubt that Scream 3 will be at least watchable, I still can't help but to think the studio dumped the movie. It seems that the film has hardly been promoted, even though it comes out in a week or two. Secondly, it was set to be released in December then it was bumped to February. Usually when a film is set to be released at a prestigious time such as December but bumped to the barren winter wastelands of February, it's a sign the studio doesn't have any faith in the movie. Can anybody think of an instance in which a film that was set for release in either the summer

Actually, the film got bumped because they were running behind schedule during filming. Promotions do seem kinda low though, don't they?

It is Randy. Who better to be the killer behind all killings? Survived the first, miraculously? No. Died in Scream 2? Not on camera. Sure the van shook, and he was covered in some red liquid, but how better to show in the footage that Dewey and (Courtney Cox) saw of him on the phone later.

20$ says Randy is the killer, (in addition to being "around" in the post-death warning tape he leaves for Sidney, that we see in the trailer. The killer is Randy.

BETING TWENTY DOLLARS! NOW! And the thing is , I'd bet more, but don't want you each to have to up me another tax bracket when you lose if you bet against me...

Randy. The killer. "Killing him off" in Scream 2 was to make us deny this thought. He is alive, and well (though not mentally.

Vote Randy in 2000.
You know it in your (luckily) still-beating heart, you bastards.

(Yes, I'm "back"!)

Yes-I can think of a movie that was set for release in the summer and then was postponed until February and was still a great flick-

Army of Darkness. February 19th, 1993-Original schedualed date of release-May 1992.

Also, I feel the reason that Scream 3 is not being pushed too hard is that consumer awareness is, in general, very high-while interest in the genre is waning. It stands to reason that this film will probably close the circle of teen horror flicks for awhile. Hyping the film too much may annoy the piss out of people already annoyed by the slasher trend. In addition-spend too much on P&A on a film, and it cuts ito the profits (which will undoubtedly be lower this time around because of the rising above the line costs). Long story short-You don't want to spend more to make less, everybody already knows it's coming-why do a big ad thing.

I've seen four TV ads, and the only television I watch is Buffy, WCW Monday Nitro, and The Sopranos. Also, the new Entertaiment Weekly had the Scream kids all over it. The Dimension marketing dept. is doing all right, I think.

DJEvil

High five for the General! My thoughts exactly. There are a few minor inconsistancies, but...if I were a betting man...

I don't want to think about it too hard, cause I might spoil the movie for myself. I'll find out for sure in the next couple of nights (Wednesday, maybe even).

General Logan
02-03-2000, 10:04 PM
Okay. An addition.

Randy was interviewed recently. (Cinescape I think? Sorry, I don't spend too much time there though so, I'm still okay. Think of it as the Brussel Sprouts you have to eat before you can get your after-dinner CHUD)

Jamie Kennedy, aka Randy, was explaining how Wes Craven had the great idea to bring him back for his posthumous tape idea. He played it low-key, as if to say that he was grateful to come back for a bit part...

Since when is the killer a BIT PART?! (well, it kinda was for the two killers in Scream 2, but...)

On being asked if Sidney was the killer... Neve stated that she "got some satisfaction" See, Randy kills off all her friends once more, and she snaps, realizing her love for Randy...

The two go off to live and love.

Can I get an "Amen"?

General, you owe me $20. Kennedy is HILARIOUS...all 2 minutes of him.

I saw this last night. Easily the best of the trilogy. They did a hell of a job. It was funny, scary, and not stupid.

There was a lack of Williamson in the writing (yes, that's a good thing), and I'm looking forward to anything else by this Kruger guy. You didn't feel cheated in this one, that's for damn sure. The killer is an extreme bad-ass, here. No exaggeration when I say this, but nearly EVERYONE dies.

I almost feel like watching the other 2, except I realize that they wouldn't come close to beating 3. Guess I'll just have to watch 3 again. And again. And again. And again.

How can anyone with a reasonable amout of sense and self-respect watch Pro Rastling? It was kinda fun when i was a kid, but then the dream was over and i realized it was fake. I hope all who watch it know its fake, i know some who think its real, but it is faker than A republican at a NAACP rally. Besides, theres a little too much Homo-erotisim (?) for me.

Jason Pollock

I suppose THAT was directed my way. Well, I'm not going to defend my intelligence-I think that people who have to TELL others that they're smart are in fact simultaneously really stupid and very insecure. Wrestling is fake-I have known that since the first time I watched it in 1982-and no one had to tell me. I'm not going to defend my maturity level, either-I am twenty-five years old trying to stay mentally twelve-because I feel that it is the key to retaining some sense of the silliness, wit, and heart that alot of people my age don't possess.

I watch wrestling for the same reason there are Star Wars toys all over my house, for the same reason I have Say Anything on laserdisc, for the same reason I own and maintain a working 8 bit Nintendo Entertainment system with Robotic Operating Buddy-to provide a tangible reminder of the times in my childhood when I was ALLOWED to BE A CHILD for a few minutes.

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper was my hero when I was a kid. He was smart, he was funny, he could fight, he never backed down from anyone, and he always told people the truth-even (and sometimes especially) when it hurt. I wanted to be him. As it stands, I think I've come close-I'm a tad smarter than some, occasionally amusing, I never lie, and I've been known to throw a punch or two (sometimes with a foreign object when I thought it might help).

You question my self-respect? I'll have you know that Professional Wrestling is precisely where I learned self-respect-learned to believe in myself, and not be afraid of anyone, and to speak my mind with courage and conviction. I learned my personal code of honor from the comic books and wrestlers-various brightly-colored, spandex-clad superheroes any way you cut it-that I loved when I was a kid.

I don't expect anyone to understand, but I do expect people to back off. I have my motivations, just as I'm certain you have reasons for your more...outlandish pursuits. I don't judge. I don't look down my nose. I respect it. Hell, go ahead and enjoy those monumentally weak-ass Dr. Who reruns all you want. Be a Trekkie, I don't mind-in most cases I downright love it. It's why I'm here. I don't question your sensibilities-you don't have the right to question mine. If you feel the need to continue, well, then-I'll tell you what the Hot Animal Machine is going to do-

The Hot Animal Machine is going to stop by your house, and come right on through the front door. He's gonna' spy you sittin' at your computer, lookin' at those nekkid pictures of the Rosie O' Donnell you like so much, and he's gonna' rip your mouse outta' your hand-and since yer' lookin' at Rosie, the Hot Animal Machine doesn't want to know what's in the other hand-and do something really nice for you. Hot Animal Machine's gonna' take that mouse, polish up nice and neat as you please, then he's gonna' take that mouse, turn it sideways, and STICK IT UP YOUR ROODY-POO CAAANDY ASS. NOW CAN YOU SMELLLLLLLL WHAT THE POLLOCK'S COOOOKIN'??

Thanks for playing, General. Now get thee to the Phantom Zone-NON wants to get back to keeping you warm from the inside.

My brother and I enjoyied that, HAM. He watches wrestling because he likes it, and I respect that.

Ok, maybe i should have said taste instead of intelligence. I just dont get the wrestling thing. I m glad to know you were at least articualte enough to convey why you like it. I too have Star Wars, Trek and Austin Powers figs all over my house and tons of movie posters adorning the walls, it looks better than SPorts garbage... I may have sounded a little pretentious and i apologize. I definately do not want to be one of those miserable fucks who hate everything, many of them frequnet this site, but hey....no hard feelings i hope and if there was ever any naked pics of Rosie, i would hope the world would immedielty end !!!!it would be a much better fate than looking at those miles, and miles of blubber!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, I've had ants in my pants!

Saw Scream 3 yesterday. Liked it better than 2, less than 1. Thought, however, that 2 -- although "dumber" than 3 -- had more energy in some of the sequences than 3 ever had. Craven and the actors just seemed plain bored in 3. Liked 2's opening sequence in the theatre, the "trapped in the car with the unconscious boogeyman" stuff. No set piece in 3 got me going. But thought 3 had a better story than 2.

But, God, how dumb people were in this latest movie! Okay, trapped in mansion with ghostface on the loose. You go that way and find character X, I'll go this way. We'll meet up again to compare notes and then split up again, and then meet up again, and then split up again ... I'm sure we won't stumble onto the maniacal killer. He's busy painting the nursery...
