I am not really versed on the live action short films that are available online but I do look at the flash animation shorts. And you’d be surprised on how good some are at horror. So If you are interested here are some horror animations that I particularly like.
of Mind and Machine has text and animation mixed in. It is a lot like the book 1984. It can be found at this address:

From My Room is not as nearly violent as the others but it develops a good creepy atmosphere. Found at:

And finally The Stranger II. This is a weird one. It is a serious horror short with stick figures. You’ll either love it or hate it. The Address is:
