Wow, I envy you! Those were the day, eh?

The real tragedy is that some of those are not even out on DVD anywhere in the world ...

Damn FOX (I think it's them who have the rights) should release PHANTASM II already

Trick or Treat - this movie had a decent soundtrack too.

Deadly Eyes - Giant Rat movie

Evilspeak - I think it took place at a military academy. I can't remember but I think there was a scene where some pigs eat a couple of cadets.

"Silent Scream" is an incredibly underrated movie. I only saw it once, but I remember really enjoying it. I mean... Yvonne de Carlo and Barbara Steele? It gets no better.

"The Boogens" is another one that I recall fondly. And, oddly enough, they both starred Rebecca "Where is she now?" Balding.

Trick or Treat - this movie had a decent soundtrack too.It also had a half naked "that hot brunette chick from that shitty sit-com starring the guy who married Rebecca Romijn-Stamos who was in that other shitty show where everyone called him Blackie."

But one of my favorite movies is:

Q the Winged Serpent

Thank God a special edition is being released on August 26...God bless you Blue Underground!

Man, Curtains really freaked me out, too bad the only copy I have is on a beta tape and Dad's machine finally shit the bed.

I always fondly recall Humongous and Grotesque although they're both fairly asstacular, but in that neato cool (!) way wink Same with the It's Alive movies.

I seem to recall someone of fair credibility telling me, and I may be horribly incorrect, that The Boogens was never released theatrically but was something of an HBO or Cinemax feature, member when they played the same 5 movies over and over (as opposed to now when they play the same 10 movies over and over...).

Any corroborations? I'm just curious because it seems like it'd be a rather early entry into the (what is now popular) pay channel-funded "feature film" category.

What about Metalstorm in 3-D?

If I had seen it projected flat the 3-D in Parasite would still beat it. However, this was also shown in 3-D and unlike Parasite has Tim Thomerson in it, which is an automatic trump card.

I only have a vague recollection, but does this sound familiar to anyone? It was a movie about a sheepish kid who makes a deal with the devil (or something) to become a famous rock star, but he's sorta possessed and goes around killing people (or something). It had all the teased hair and headbands that were popular in the day. I thought it was called "Rock You To Hell" or some such nonsense. I could've sworn Sasha Jenson was in it, but there's nothing on IMDB...

It wasn't John Woo, was it Dave?

Bedazzled meets the Warner Bros. cartoons with this supernatural comedy directed by future action film auteur John Woo. The film centers around Bruce Lee (Ricky Hui Koon-ying), a failed composer and general loser who has hit rock bottom. One day, the devil (Chung Fat) appears before Lee, promising to make his worldly dreams come true in exchange for his soul. Lee immediately asks to become a rock star and have the undying love of a beautiful dancer named Peggy (Hsu Jie). Of course, his dreams of love and rock fame don't quite pan out the way he imagined, and soon Lee is trying to welsh out on the deal while the devil is hell-bent on collecting what he is owed. Fortunately for Lee, a dead priest (Paul Chun Pui) comes to the rescue and takes on the devil, as Lee tries desperately to dispose of the contracthttp://us.imdb.com/Title?0082762

I forgot to mention that it looked horrible on the Drive-In screen though, more headache inducing than three dimensional.

Best early drive-in memory for me has to be Carpenter's Thing. ET was playing on the next screen over, we arrived a little late, and whattayaknow, Thing was just starting... The rest is history.

HEY! I loved House 2 (and the original).

I didn't see it in the theaters, nor did I Funhouse, but that rocked.

Another I didn't see in the theaters but rocked in the 80's was Bad Dreams. I liked what it turned out to be, not another F13 or NMoES wannabe...

How 'bout "Spacehunter?"That was the 3-D cartoon, right? You know, I think you got me there. That's one of those movies I can remember vague glimpses of--I can still roughly picture the look of it, the hero, the princess, the little robot--but I'm not at all sure I ever actually saw it.

Altered States. Watch that after not sleeping for days on end (no I wasn't hopped up on speed, stress kept me from it) not really a scary movie but in the state I was in it freaked me out.

Dolls kicked ass. I loved that movie. That's late 80's, right?

The Beach. Shot through a lens that was fogged up and staring Adrian's brother from Rocky. I remember the commercial scaring me as a kid but when I got to see it years later I was astonsihed at the Magoo-Vision technology they used.

I think there were a couple of Lizzie Borden tunes in that flick (Me Against the World and Eyes of a Stranger if I'm not mistaken). Also;

The Unseen
White Trash
The Stuff
C.H.U.D. (of course)

"Roktober Blood" was hilarious. Was "Street Trash" from the 80s? Count that among my favorite 80s if so. Others:

Intruder
The Burning(one of my fav slashers period)
Rock N Roll Nightmare
Trick or Treat(just got the DVD in a cheap bin)
Superstition(got it in a closeout sale from a Ma/Pop rental shop)

I was a lucky little bastard, in retrospect...my dad would get me on the weekends, treating me to a matinee (on those rare special occasions a double feature). He was a horror fan as well, so I was privileged to see all these on the big screen :

CHRISTINE
PRINCE OF DARKNESS
THEY LIVE
NIGHTWING (this piece of shit somehow scared me BAD!)
THE WATCHER IN THE WOODS
TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2-3
RACE WITH THE DEVIL / JAWS (Drive-in double feature)
JAWS 3-D
AMITYVILLE 3-D
SPACEHUNTER : ADVENTURES IN THE FORBIDDEN ZONE
BLADE RUNNER
HEAVY METAL
POLTERGEIST
HARDWARE
EVIL DEAD 2
SWAMP THING
RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD 1-2
FRIGHT NIGHT (multiple times...loved that one!)
F/X
PSYCHO III
PHANTASM 2
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (all of 'em..)
THE TERMINATOR
MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH (remake)
FRIDAY THE 13th 4-8 (okay, most of these suck...but THE FINAL CHAPTER and JASON LIVES were a blast!)
APRIL FOOLS DAY
HALLOWEEN 4-5

And maybe my favorite movie going experience ever:

CREEPSHOW / THE HOWLING (Drive-in double feature!)

And then the 80's ended, and I haven't had half as much fun in theaters since....
