Just saw Gingers Snap yesterday and I must say it's one, if not the, best horror movie I've seen in a while. The characters are great and far from stupid. Everybody should see it, it's that great. Even better, they had a trailer for "La Compagnie des Loups" just before.
La vie est belle!

A trailer for 'La' what?

I agree. Thanks to the kind spirit that is Ryan Rotten, I got my hands on a copy of the film and loved it just as much as you. If there is any justice in the world, it will see a release in the states. Be it theatrical or DVD, we must have this film.

Butane - that's BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF he's talkin' about...in French.

Right? http://www.chud.com/board/ubbhtml/wink.gif

"La Compagnie des Loups" means 'The Company of Wolves'. The Brotherhood of Wolves is 'Le Pacte des Loups'. not sure which one they mean, but 'Company of Wolves' was a crappy 1984 folklore movie with the old bat from 'Murder She Wrote'.

Oups, little error on my part, it's Christophe Gang's "Le pacte des Loups" with Vinvent Cassel. And the fact that he act in it make me want to see it, he was in "Dubberman" (sp?) and "Les Rivière Pourpes" and he kick ass.

Oh, ans if someone if wondering, I'm a French Canadian living near Montreal.

I'm highly looking forwards to it, Drac 2001 is out a week before, that can be a warm up.

Dracula 2001? Did Dimension really re-title the flick for your neck of the woods, Slasher?

Ginger Snaps was great. I'm glad I finally got to see it. I had a couple problems with the ending but not nearly as much as the rest of the people Johnny and I saw it with, up in arms they were.

This is a movie worth tracking down

I enjoyed Ginger Snaps for what it was, but I still feel that The Forsaken was a more entertaining horror film.

I admit that Ginger Snap was a better-made film and had way more interesting elements to it. I just mean that I went into The Forsaken without knowing what to expect and just found it to be a fun popcorn movie (-- plus I didn't pay for it -- I snuck in after watching A Knight's Tale). It moved quickly and I was never bored. So I'm not saying it was a classic or anything -- just that I had a good time. Nothing wrong with that, is there?

No, but being a "fun popcorn movie" doesn't make it a better horror film, either. For my money, 'Ginger Snaps' was better written, better acted, had a MUCH MORE INTERSTING plot, and wasn't filled with lots of pretty people looking pretty.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the 'Forsaken' for what it was: Hollywood horror, that's it. Hollywood has no idea what "horror" is anymore, they think it's pretty 20 somethings prancing around with bad, bad dialouge. 'Ginger Snaps', at least, played out like it respected it's audience's intelligence, which is why it'll never be released her theatrically.

Yup, it's Dracula 2001 here in the UK. I am highly looking forwards to Ginger Snaps, I just hope, like many horror movies, it doesn't skip cinemas in Ireland and hit STV, but I checked UCI and they are showing it when it's out which means it will probably be shown but might be delayed getting it's ass over here, Final Destination took around 3 months to get from England to Ireland.

Ya know- I felt that I HAD to post and say that Ginger Snaps was a big ole let down.
I come from the school that even if the movie is brilliant- if the last 10 minutes of the film are a let down- I leave with a really really bad taste in my mouth.
And unfortunatly Ginger Snaps is one of those movies- No spoilers here- Just had to let my little opinion be known.

The most of characters were really well written, and down to earth. The story, despite some real flimsy parts and loop holes that I could fit most of Montana easilly through, it was fun and passed quickly. Watched "The Convent" the night before and was looking for the same tongue in cheek fun movie.

But the ONE THING I hate in films is when very obvious questions the viewer has, go unanswered. And i do not want to get into any of the "Oh it was left up to your imagination" arguments. I love almost every John Capenter movie- and he is the MASTER of LEAVING YOU HANGING! Does anyone remember the Thing, or Halloween 3, or In the Mouth of Madness???

Ginger Snaps had me until its final reel- Where it seems like someone said that they needed to hurry up and finish this movie- and it shows.

Sorry to disagree with most of the people who have seen it- But I guess I will have to go back to my American Werewolf in London DVD and my old worn out VHS copy of the Howling for any quality werewolf action.

Hey I remember, The Thing, Halloween 3 and In the mouth of madness, all 3 movies are some of the best horror out there. But you got to admit that Ginger Snap puts an all new spin on lycanthropy. Good characters, good story line, and all in all a good movie, but I do agree that the end could've been a little re-worked. And BTW "Le Pacte des Loups" is a very good movie, a very very good non-Hollywood movie, thank God. But I think it is only in French tough, so better learn French quickly http://www.chud.com/board/ubbhtml/wink.gif How did you guys feel about Fallen, Thinner, Salem's lot, Hellraiser o_O ?

I remember when I reported on 'Brotherhood of the Wolf' a while back they said it was being shot in both French and English, so hopefully we'll get a watchable version here in the states soon.
