A House of 1000 Corpes Rumor?

As far as I know , this is just a rumor,but, it might be of some interest. I have heard that since MGM dropped House, Mr. Zombie is releasing it himself straight to video on Oct. 15th. Dont know the details, but can anybody confirm or deny this? Anybody?

Sorry, that reads a bit sarcastic. I misread your post - I thought you were asking about MGM dropping the movie, not Zombie releasing it himself.

But I don't think Rob Zombie would be able to release the film just by himself - he'd need a video production company and a distribution deal to back him up. Maybe he's got a few deals in the pipeline though. I suspect that quite a few smallish video labels would welcome the chance to pick up a "notorious" movie like this. Hell, Dimension could pick it up and repair some of the damage to their genre reputation.

Interesting that Johnny suggested it could be a marketing scam though. What better way to drum up interest than by making it look like "the film they didn't want you to see"?

Although I suspect the truth is less interesting and more depressing than that.

Its about half way down the page and was a bit too long to paste in here but it does clarify a few details from Zombie himself, although it aint much clearer about the whole direct to video deal.

Yeah, I know Dan, thats kind of what I thought myself, but the way its written on here is exactly how I read it. Like I said, I dont know any details(thats why I was asking if anyone else had heard this). It sounds completely non-sensical to me, but it could mean that he has already struck a deal with a distribution company for video release. so, anybody?

I guess it could still be marketing ploy, but somehow I doubt it. Seems like too much work and would make MGM look downright shaddy if it were.
