I have an idea I would just like to bounce off everyone.

Would it be possible to have a "Best Threads" Archive section here in the CHUD Boards? As time goes by I am sure they are many great Threads and Discussions that dissapear in to Page 30 or 40 and are rarely viewed again.

Now I am sure that we may have different ideas on what makes a memorable and interesting Thread. But maybe we could nominate a few to archive and let someone make a decision.

Any thoughts?

Threads on message boards die when nobody really has anything left to say on the subject, and there's always a search function to check if anyone's already created a thread about a topic you were thinking about. If someone were to categorize and archive all of the meltdown threads, well that would be a different story.

True. But you have to know what you're looking for first and (maybe i am not using it correctly) I don't find the Search Engine particularly helpful.

CHUD is full of funny and insightful threads and Discussions. I was just thinking that maybe we could make a list of them here so for easier viewing.

The Meltdown threads are fun to read as well. Remember that "Somebody watched Dark Knight 250 times" Thread last years that just imploded completely out of control? I got to reread that someday.

Archiving "Best Threads" is a neat idea in theory, but in practice probably wouldn't be workable. While I agree the search function here leaves a bit to be desired, the main problem I see is whose responsibility archiving the "best" threads is going to end up being. Who makes that determination? And who will be tasked with taking the time to do it? I somehow don't see admins chomping at the bit for this added assignment.

Agree with Iggy - a great idea in concept, but no idea who'd want to execute it.

Still, I wouldn't mind reading the "Fire bad" thread again.

Best Threads would be okay if it had good moderators. Without tasteful moderation, it would instantly fill up with the shittiest threads imaginable.

And how will we find this thread once it falls off the radar?

With a Best of "Best of Threads" thread?

How about just linking to threads here and making this thread a sticky?
