The only recollection I have of the 1962 film is from an old VHS full of monster movie trailers. For the most part, I remember finding most of them boring and mundane, but even at six years old, the plot to Day of the Triffids intrigued me to no end.
Actually, now that I think about it, the trailer to Night of the Living Dead was also on that VHS, and that thing always gave me nightmares.

AND Jason Priestley? With Redgrave and Cox on the cast he gets singled out?

Maybe the Wyndham novel will Finally be done justice. But Probably not. You have to like the cast, but I wonder if the sheer weight of those names will cause the makers to downplay the horror element of it.
The Wyndham novel is a masterpiece, and if you have not read it, do so.
