A bit of a weak start, to be honest, but at least I'm writing something.

Edited to add more links, another paragraph about TCM: TNG, and to fix some spelling errors.
I share the love for the book Patrick. My Favorite book as well. Just hilarious.
So technically The Mighty Boosh raped your childhood, right?

I actually laughed out loud at the Matthew McConaughey joke. That was quite good. You might want to proofread your stuff a bit more carefully in order to weed out the sentence fragments and the like but--so far--I dig what you are putting down.
Jennings' music video for Imitation of Life (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEhT2QlRBMo) is a bit of a mindfuck, though its effect is diminished watching it on a youtube.

Sorry Molt, I tried to love Above the Law, and it definitely had it's moments, but in the end, not for me.

Maybe a generational thing, but do you know how painful a segue it is from Led Zep to Blink?
Cool blog none the less.

Whatever. I'm never going to win any prizes in respectful awe of classic rock bands, especially bands that stole so shamelessly from blues artists.

Interesting fact about "I Miss You": the drum part is a single loop repeated. Another interesting fact: it's a pretty neat song from an album that overall is pretty forgettable.
Nice write-up Ripoll.

I Miss You is even more of a rap song than Fool in the Rain. They both drop a verse, and then repeat the hook. Simple. The fact that the drumbit is looped doesn't surprise me a bit.

This is a pretty adult (in a childish kind of way) post, so turn the lights down, light some candles, and get comfortable.

Gordon Levitt was good in what I saw of Mysterious Skin, he was always good on Third Rock From the Sun, and I've heard he's good in The Lookout. I'm thinking GI Joe won't be the best thing for his career though.
Patrick Ripoll
08-11-2008, 01:27 AM
Considering he's only made a name for himself with roles in smaller films, I'm thinking the opposite is true.
Actually, I had forgotten all about GI Joe and Levitt's part in it. Now I'm excited about life again.

I've had many, many adult friends and co-workers express worry to me about JG-L playing Cobra Commander as the 'movie guy'. It's not like Cobra Commander is comparable to The Joker or Lex Luthor in children's entertainment or pop culture importance, he's a literally facless bad guy on a cartoon made to sell toys. Honestly it sort of shocks me every time. And if I remember correctly Cobra Commander was always a sort of weasly villain anyway.

You have many many friends and co-workers who give a shit about GI Joe? Huh.
And Joseph Gordon Levitt is a weaselly kind of guy, so I have faith that it'll be at least a cringe-worthy performance.

Those are both my point - why the hell do they care (and coming from the guy who took the time to watch the season finale of Avatar the Last Airbender, that's saying something), and the casting sounds fine. I think everyone wants muscle men for everyone of their childhood favs.

And for what it's worth, he's GREAT in that film. The whole film. First Araki flick I enjoyed.

It was playing on TV (I think IFC) and I turned it on in the middle. I decided to stop watching it because I'd missed too much and haven't picked it up since, but it's on the ol' Netflix queue.
If I were making favorites of the decade list, that one would be on it. More people should see it.

Stop smashing up your parents' kitchen. They paid money for all that.
Thanks for the shout out, which in truth was a little terrifying in context. And thanks for wearing clothes.
