Hey there, long long LOOOONG time reader but insanely infrequent poster GiggityGoo here. I was lucky enough to have the free time to hook up with Nick, Devin, Andre, Jeremy and others this past Wednesday at El Compadre in Los Angeles. We knocked back cervezas and margaritas as we discussed... Oh, what were those things we talked about? You see them in theaters... you buy them on DVD... Steve Guttenberg is in them... MOVIES! Right, that's what we talked about, movies. Lots of dirt, criticism, and bad jokes were flung about the table as I got to know the men behind CHUD.
From there, we moved a few blocks down Sunset to The Cat & Fiddle. The movie discussion continued, as did the drinking, but with one crucial addition: EXCRUCIATINGLY BAD JUKEBOX MUSIC WAR! In one corner, we had Asia's "The Smile Has Left Your Eyes", going to head-to-head against Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven On Earth". Many Washingtons were deposited in the belly of the jukebox as we sought to tinge the evening's festivities with drek.
It was a fun night, and I'm glad I got to put faces to names. (Other than Devin, who is - as Nick pointed out - "the face of CHUD".) All the contributors and site-runners are fun, quick-witted, knowledgeable movie buffs. I heartily recommend that you show up for the next one (whenever that might be).
You know how I love doing a chick in the can... AOH!
