Thought we had a thread for this...but it seems lost.

Anyone else grabbing this today? I am making a point to get through the single player, but this is a game built for real teams. Would love to get a few CHUD friends for some tactical pew pew to balance out COD4's crazy carnage.

I will be, but not for a bit. Going to finish up Army of Two, LEGO Star Wars (The Complete Saga) and Blacksite: Area 51. But I will definitely pick this up soon, as I can't pass up on the co-op.

I played it at a buddies house and was kinda disappointed. Feels more like an expansion pack than a true sequel. Mabey I was just expecting too much. The graphics and framerate are way behind the other FPS's that have come out lately.

Yeah, looks to me that they made an expansion, slapped a "2" on it, and charged full price. Fuck you, Ubisoft. I'da paid 40 straight up, no questions asked, but 60 for an expansion? Fuck you. That being said, I loved the dick out of the first one. Probably played that one's multi more than any other 360 game, including but not limited to: Burnout Paradise, Gears of War and Halo 3.

I played about two hours last night. Yeah, it's a bit more of the same, but is that really a bad thing? I really loved the rooftop level, which was early, but run and gun and taking out snipers was a ton of fun.

The gear/armor customization is pretty cool. I don't see the need for boosting mobility, except maybe in multi. I like the XP system as well, and the "notes" you get for headshot, long rang/short rang kills, etc.

If anyone wants to play with a Vegas noob tonight, let me know. Going to be reviewing this sucker so want to get some co-op in.

I'm going to be on tonight, I love the single player, but haven't tried the co-op yet. I'm already on your list, so send me a request if you want.

I am going to try to pick this up soon, I never played the first. I'm curious though, is this game a fast paced shooter, or is it more strategic, slower-paced, pick your spots kind of experience? Not that I mind either, but I have no idea what to even expect.

I've got some other stuff to take care of but maybe around 8? It'd be pretty awesome to get a 4-player match going, actually. I'll send an invite to all you guys.

It's a mix. Some levels are extremely picky and delicate, others are pretty run and gun. Of course, ramp it up to realistic, and you're going slow and easy. On lower difficulty, you can pretty much play it how you want, unless you're on a "stealth" objective; ie: rescue hostages. Fast + loud = holes in hostage heads

Shit- going to be later for me. Sorry guys. Maybe around 10-11? I'll send invites...

Yeah, I was about to buy this yesterday, and then I remembered I still hadn't finished Bully and Condemned was on its way. And I spent the money on an oil change instead.

Anyone got it on the PS3? Know if they fixed the resolution problem from the original?

Alex Riviello
03-21-2008, 03:34 PM
Not sure about that, but a lot of PS3 people are bitching about the bugs for the online portion.

As for the game- well, it's not doing a whole lot for me. The game's pretty buggy and steals so much from Call of Duty 4 it's not funny.

Had fun playing with Lukas last night, though- and if anyone's up for a some multiplayer later on let me know.

The online for this game is the most cruel and demented thing ever. I just cant wrap my head around on the tactics that i should use. If i rush i get killed by someone in a corner. If i camp i get picked off or rushed up on. I really just want to cry like a little girl right now........

Lukas
03-24-2008, 01:44 AM
It's a balance of the two, rushing is death 90% of the time and if you camp to much someone will come around and kill you flat out. I play aggressively but slow, and always check your corners.

thats a pretty fair review. Vegas 2 seems like a solid game in it's own right, but I doubt it will be dragging me away from CoD4 for long periods of time.

Honestly it was going to be scored lower than that, but the more you play you realize how much damn fun the game mechanics really are. It might have one of the best cover systems around- I was really missing it when I went to play Army of Two with a friend yesterday.

I think they should have set the convention center level during the porn convention. That would have been more memorable if done correctly.

Haven't been able to play much multiplayer. Went on for the first time yesterday and I kept getting kicked out of games for some reason.

The majority of R:6 players are elitest. If you dont have a certain level rank, they wont even bother playing with you.

I haven't bothered starting storymode in this game. Mainly will be playing the crap out of online/co-op. Kind of got sucked into the game this afternoon. Took a couple of hours to unlock all the marksman tiers and rewards. Close quarters is lagging in the xp department. I'll need to play more of the maps to figure out which is the best route to snag the assault points.

If you want to fast track your marksman and close combat levels I found it easy to plow through Kill Box (that training level) on medium difficulty in Terrorist Hunt mode. Host an xbox live/system link game with the mentioned settings. When you start the level take the stairs to the right. Hug the outer concrete wall and just snipe or shotty the ai that endlessly use the nearby rappel rope. When you've cleared that section of enemies crouch walk down the right hand side of the map then hide behind the wooden box and repeat.

I don't know if I have the patience to repeat that process using C4 on the guys, it's hilarious, but I'm ready to move on to playing other maps.

Anyone else get glitch for private first class? If you've played the first R6 and you start R62 it gives you credit for your past experiences by unlocking weapon/equipment kits. Not that losing out on those 10 points bothers me...just seems like an obvious sort of thing they should have caught during testing before shipping.

It's not a game you can just pop in and play and expect to be even decent at. It's slower paced than most shooters and MEANT to be more tactical in nature (subjective to the people you're playing with... and any shooter can be tactical if you want it to be. The pacing sort of governs here though).

Anyway, RB6V2 is a lot like an expansion pack to Vegas, and I didn't really care for the Vegas location to begin with, but I'm enjoying the game. I played COD4 for awhile, and it was pretty easy to get the hang of and actually be somewhat competitive. It got old pretty fast though too.

Love the RB6 cover system.

mongycore, PFC glitched on me. I figured it was for folks with a higher rank than I had in V1. Guess not. No biggie, achievments don't mean too much to me.

Anyone having a ton of issues with lock up on this? I have been trying hard to get through the single player game, but every 2-3 checkpoints the game completely locks up. It's the only game that does it as well. I haven't even gone online because I don't want to deal with the same lock ups.

No lock up problems for me. My only problem is prying CoD4 out of my 360 and getting someone to join me from my friends list. :D

Finally beat this, so if anyone wants to get some multi on let me know.

The ending is really complete shit. That helicopter, random frag grenades, the intel officer telling to stay put and safe then you immediately get destroyed by heli's missiles. Regardless, a damn fun game.

My roomate rented this tonight and we had a blast, we dicked around with terrorist hunt to get the reflexes back (fuck you whomever decided to switch the grenade and night vision buttons, sure I could see in the dark but it was only for a milisecond and then I was dead). We then did about 3 1/2 hours on the story mode, and again went back to the terrorist hunt.

We ended up playing for almost 6 hours! I did a little online just to check it out and played for another hour and a half. I will very likely buy this one if I can find it used.
