[Iron Maiden]

Any one else see this movie?

I loved it. As much as I love horror movies, I don't normally get scared much anymore. Maybe I'm jaded after years of watching horror films or maybe it's because I haven't been nine years old for quite a long time now.

With that being said, Joshua scared me. It's pretty damn unsettling and very well-acted. I noticed on IMDb that it's not liked all that much, but I don't get the hate. Sure, there are a few holes in the script, but it works so well on an emotional level that I barely cared. It's not everyday that I get a horror movie I like this much, so I was willing to let things slide a bit.

The directing is good, the music is awesome, and I love the pacing. Despite the many people I talk to who say it's horribly boring, I never saw what they were talking about.

Alex gave this film some love, if I recall correctly. It wasn't available on Netflix last time I checked (which was some time ago), but I just saw that it's featured this month on Comcast On Demand. I'll be checking it out.

There's more than one Joshua. Alex liked (and I sort of liked) the low-budget indie Joshua (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0491000/).

The more recent Joshua (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0808331/) is the one CHUD reviewed, and I haven't been interested in seeing, as Macaulay Culkin covered that ground in The Good Son (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107034/)

Sorry, everyone. I had no idea there were two Joshua's out there, or else I would have been more descriptive. The one I speak of would be the Sam Rockwell/Vera Farmiga flick from 2007.

I skipped Joshua early on because I expected another GODSEND / OMEN sucker, but actually it's pretty good. It has a great Hitchcock vibe and while nothing much happens (no typical scares, gore, paranormal etc), the tension gets highly unsettling. Creepy kid, many creepy scenes, effective score and great acting by all three of them.

Also, loved to see Morris Fletcher from The X-Files.
