I was going to include his turn as vaguely creepy, but ultimately decent FBI agent in Silence of The Lambs. But there was just too much Urban Cowboy.

He's done more than just Urban Cowboy and Desperado. There's a moment in Absolute Power when he's talking to an evil Chief of Staff character, I think, and suddenly says, "Know this. I want nothing more than to tear out your throat," or something. Very likeable in Hunt for Red October, where his morse is so rusty he could be sending them the dimensions of the Playmate of the Month.

I loved his work in The Hunt for Red October. But that was a safe role. So I say, Beats up Debra Winger in Urban Cowboy

You're failing so hard at these polls, Bob.

You know an epic shirtless fight with tight pants would be Scott Glenn circa Urban Cowboy vs Patrick Swayze circa Road House.

Damn, that would be gayer than the Greek olympics.

I like to think of this as less of a poll and more of a "OMG! wasn't scott glenn so awesome in urban cowboy?!" thread.

What about his crazy-ass hair in that shitty mountain climbing movie? What was it called? Vertical Limit? That movie was sucky/bad, but his character was sucky/great.

Glenn had some killer moments in BUFFALO SOLDIERS. Definitely better than anything in BACKDRAFT or VERTICAL LIMIT. But URBAN COWBOY I haven't seen in ages.

I voted the worm bit in UC, but he ate worse in The Challenge (which is Essential Glenn, and yet another glaring omission). Truly a man (on Fire) ahead of his time, he was a sort of magnificent Remo/Jackass inspiro-combo in that movie.

Nice Goldsmith score, that.
ETA: Also, direction by Frankenheimer and fight choreography by Steven Seagal.

Well I've never seen URBAN COWBOY, so I'll go with EXTREME JUSTICE in which Glenn chillingly blows away a juvenile robbery suspect (who was armed with only a pellet gun) after the suspect bragged that since he was only 17 he'd never do any serious time and just end up at a summer camp.
This event is key as it convinces Lou Diamond Phillips that maybe Glenn is too sadistic to be in charge of the L.A.P.D.'s Special Investigations Unit.
A real kickass film from director Mark L. Lester. But don't take my word for it. Take the word of director and former film critic Rod Lurie who calls EXTREME JUSTICE "Gritty. Powerful. A film in the mold of THE FRENCH CONNECTION."

You'll love it. I believe it was made for cable but don't hold that against it. It has a hell of a cast. If Glenn and Phillips together aren't enough for someone then how about Ed Lauter? What if I threw in Andrew Divoff? Still not enough? How about Yaphet Kotto who wears a cowboy hat in practically every scene he's in? I thought that would do it.

If you're willing to venture deep into B-movie territory (I hear Moltisanti will act as guide/tracker for a reasonable rate), find a low-budget thriller called NIGHT OF THE RUNNING MAN, directed by COMMANDO's Mark L. Lester. Glenn plays a merciless gun-for-hire on the trail of Andrew McCarthy, a cab driver who's impulsively made off with a suitcase full of drug money. It's like a direct-to-video NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, with a badass Glenn as Anton Chigurh.

Very likeable in Hunt for Red October, where his morse is so rusty he could be sending them the dimensions of the Playmate of the Month.
I think it's less his morse was that rusty than he wanted to stick it to Jack Ryan for playing roulette (Russian roulette, no less) with his crew and boat.
How about in The Right Stuff - "request...permission...to relieve...BLADDER!"

I love his turn in THE PLAYER with Lily Tomlin in which he made fun of every single role he would play after appearing in this film.

'The Challenge' all the way. I caught that on HBO about 10 years ago by complete accident. Like the good Doc says above, the 'Five Days' scene is pretty memorable...nice, yummy bug action. Damn, I need to find a copy of that flick somewhere.

Nah you all have it wrong.
The best Scott Glen moment is definately in The Right Stuff. It's during their physiques test to become astronauts. At one point he is sitting in a chair and as he's casually bending his arm, the most impressive bicep I have ever seen (on a "normal" guy) pops out of nowhere.
I mean this thing is huge and I remember me and my friends rewinding a few times just to marvel at its beauty!
I'll have to make a screengrab later today!

The best use of Glenn was the never materialized version of him playing "the old Crow" in Rob Zombie's brain.

I'm going with him sporting the Right-Said Fred T-shirt in Urban Cowboy, Bob. Any fucker that could pull that off deserves recognition. He's so intimidating in that flick I could believe he could rob a bank with nothing more than a pair of pants and a pair of those Elton John/grandma sunglasses.
