Since it's getting closer to halloween, I figure I'd start up the "What do you plan on going as?" thread. Not to mention while going thru my junkmail, I came across this:

24 Costume (http://www.zoogstercostumes.com/products/ru888537.html)

That's right a costume made to make you look like a member of 24. Be sure to yell DAMMIT! and SON OF A BITCH! a lot while wearing it.

Holy moly, it even comes with the Bauer satchel.

Hey, at least you have a costume you can pull of easily. I wanted to go as the Tenth Doctor. Try finding that particular brown and blue pinstriped suit. Damn those nerds and their sewing skills.

I've been planning to go as Johnny from the Karate Kid for about the last 3 months.. had to buy a hoodie off Ebay with a huge Cobra Kai patch on the back and the little fist patch "strike first, strike hard, no mercy!" for the front . I was going to cannibalize the patches from the hoodie and sew them onto a black, sleeveless karate gi, then get a blonde, feather-haired looking wig and a headband and my transformation would be complete.

Problem is, the only retailer I could find that carried good quality, black sleeve-less karate gi top's, has my purchase on back-order and doesn't think the piece will come in till about November.. which completely screws me over. Curse you to hell, Century Martial Arts!!

So now it looks like I'm just suiting up as Batman for the upteenth time..

I'm thinking of trying to go as Velma from Scooby Doo. I tried once before but couldn't get the costume together (rural Texas doesn't have great hippie clothing in the resale shops). Hopefully the AIDS-fundraising shops in LA will have a better selection for me!

Why is Jack Bauer a zombie?

My favourites would be these:

Brendan, you've made a lot of jokes like that. Is there anything you'd like to share with the class?

The sexywhatever costumes can bite me. In the recent past, I have been -

~ The Mad Hatter
~ Hester Prynne (I knew I was saving that Cabbage Patch Doll for something!)
~ A librarian (yes, I did actually wear something other than my own clothes for this one)
~ Bonnie after being apprehended by the Texas Rangers (Dave was a smashing Clyde)
~ and Jack White (Dave was Meg)

I have no idea what I'm going as this year. School has me very, very busy, so I haven't put much thought into it. I was thinking of being lazy and going as Hermione, since I've kind of got the hair for it, but it seems like such a cop-out.

I don't think I'm doing anything this year... if I am, it's getting late for anything really creative.

My two favorite costumes I've done in the past were:

1. Senior year of high school - Hell's Grannies from Monty Python. I had to improvise on a few things that I didn't have at home. I wore an old lady dress, hair kerchief, little white gloves, and my brother's army jacket with "HELL'S GRANNIES" on the back in white medical tape, with assorted rock buttons all over the front, a cute little old lady handbag, and a fake cigarette dangling out of my mouth all night. Old lady makeup and hair, of course. My best friend was similarly attired.

2. Senior year of college - Keith Richards. It was very much cheating, as the semester before I had taken a stage makeup class, and along with the textbook, we had to purchase a professional makeup kit. My hair was pretty short at the time, and with the makeup kit, it was really an easier costume than you'd think. I messed up my hair and just left it sticking out all over. With the kit, I then did a bump on the bridge of my nose, salt and pepper hair, creases and lines around my face, general unhealthy pallor, dark purple circles under my eyes, and with a stippling sponge, some pretty cool razor stubble. One single small hoop earring in my ear, unlit cigarette hanging out of my mouth, black jeans, black boots, a white button up shirt, a black suit jacket (the outfit: think how he's dressed in the video for "Start me up"), a bottle of booze, and my roommate's guitar slung across my back. The theme of the party was "Come as your favorite British rock stars", and frankly, I'm not pretty enough to have gone as Nick Rhodes (that one's for Summer Smile). Plus, more evidence of cheating - in the stage makeup class the year before, one of our projects was "Make yourself up like someone famous", and provide a picture to compare. So I had already done the Keith makeup for the grade - got an A+, but grossed my professor the hell out.

I wish I had pictures of both, but I'm pretty proud of how they turned out on both occassions.

I'm slated to attend a party where the theme is '80s cartoons. I'm thinking of throwing on some ninja gear, a pair of ski goggles, and some toy guns, and Voila I'll be Snake Eyes. Any suggestions? Thoughts?

Lisa, similar to your Keith Richards costume (although yours sounds far more elaborate), I went as Dead Sid Vicious during my first year of law school. Belethedheliel, my friends and I went as the Scooby gang during our first year of law school. I'll try to throw some pictures up if I get a chance.

To crib from EdHocken, I could pull off the Ninth Doctor - just has to shave off my goatee, and lose my glasses. Alas, no parties around me to crash, er go to, so....

Most elaborate/best costume I ever did was Ghost Rider - had the leather jacket, spikes, chains, biker boots, etc. Took a Don King wig and spray painted it yellow and red for fire - worked out so well I wore it to two Halloween parties that week. At the second party, I first met a now-ex girlfriend - she was dressed as a witch, a most ironic piece of foreshadowing I ever did see.

If I succeed I'm quiting my job.

I'm trying to get my buddy to do the new "Iron Spider" spider man suit.....but for some reason he's got this crazy idea to do the giant teddy bear from Akira(he pulled out the best V from Vendetta costume i've seen yet.

If the Iron Man suit works out we'll be moving on the Halo Spartan suits(And energy swords) as well as the battle suits Fenix wears in Gears of War.

EDIT: Actually if the Iron Man suit works the second project might be a WAR MACHINE suit.

Tim, funny you mention parties. Cuz being in LA I would say there's quite a few. The problem being that Halloween falls on a work day which is annoying to say the least.

And Hippie, may I say godspeed on your project there. Cuz that's a challenge if there ever was one.

A War Machine suit would pique my interest. How about a child sized War Machine, DJ? My 3 year old loves dressing up as superhero's. He already has two little spandex Spider-man suits with mask, gloves and boot covers. He has the red/blue and the symbiote version.

Well do understand that the odds are it's gonna take me months just to do this....I won't even be able to do the mold of my torso until the beginning of next year(When I hope to be under 200lbs)....I've never done anything like this and while my buddy has some experiance it's definatly gonna be a trial and error process.

However I never even thought about doing a child size suit.....That's a brilliant idea.

10-12-2007, 03:39 PM
Thanks, Trejo - took me forever to come up with that idea, until I went to a costume shop with my best friend, and the wig was staring me in the face. I was going to use some foam rubber or something and cut flames originally; that or set my head on fire.

Ed, I know, Halloween hits on a Wednesday, so any parties will most likely hit on the weekends prior or after. Sadly, my best friend's out of town and isn't doing any parties this year. My co-workers are older than I am, and live way too far away, so it'll be me watching a ton of horror flicks back-to-back until I pass out (how I wish I had an HD TV so I could get Monsters HD!!!).

Hippie, after you pull off Iron Man, ya gotta do Iron Monger.

EdHocken

All the more reason I want to be the tenth doctor. The way he looks I can just show up randomly at various clubs thru out the year.

Oddly enough, if I had been a fan of Who a few years back I could've gone as the Tom Baker doctor the way my hair looked. Or rather the Paul McGann one.

Iron Man

Master Chief

War Machine(Adult and Child size)

Iron Monger

Bender(A friend of mine has been wanting to do one for years....His Gir costume was one of the best i've ever seen....Anyone that went to DragonCon a few years ago saw it.....Cause it's fucking huge.)

Gears of War battlesuit

Turns out i'm actually good at this I may not have to deal with the fucking strip clubs anymore.

Actually I haven't spun a record in over a decade.....I'm uber lazy....I just point and click.

Seriously.....Everyone thinks I got the cool rock and roll job with strippers and drugs and firetrucks and shit(ok all that part is true). But I have to deal with usually about 10 strippers.....that breaks down to about 59 different personalities....Oh and when you get that many women working together....Let's just say they all sync up their monthly friend together....Yeah a dozen women PMSing and drinking....Just thinking about it makes me wanna Benoit myself.

6 days a week stuck in this pit.....Dealing with every backward fuck on the planet....My girlfriend is pissed cause I don't spend enough time with her....I haven't played Halo 3 in over a week....I just sit here surfing the net trying to find a way to nuke this place from orbit.

The boards convinced me to go as William 'D-Fens' Foster in my latest discussion of Falling Down. I plan on saying " I'm an American and you're a sick asshole." to pretty much everyone I meet. And if insulting random people ends up getting a ton of people pissed off and yelling at me, I'll look hurt and say "...I'm the bad guy?"

I buy alot of stuff but I don't buy a costume....My pimp suit is a total Hot Topic ensemble....yeah I know Hot Topic sucks ass....But for a brief(Very Brief) moment they actually had some decent shit.

I got a black furry kid rock style pimp jacket.....Red velvet pirate shirt and the topper was the furry pants....Anytime I wore it all the girls would run up and ask if they could pet my pants....Yeah I went there.

Sadly I lost the furry pants a few years ago and the outfit just wasn't the same....But about 2 months ago while my buddy was out finding material for his V costume he found some great fur material....Took a old pair of jeans....Some Fabric tac and voila a new pair of pet-me-pants.

Brought the pimp back out this past weekend at Necronomicon in Tampa....Fur Jacket....Velvet Shirt....Fur covered jeans....Did I mention it was about 86 degrees in Tampa this past weekend....AT NIGHT!!!!!!

I swear I lost about 12 pound just wearing that shit.

Yeah, I'm big and muscley with a thin layer of fat (just enough so that I don't look cut anywhere but my arms, dammit) and brown hair, and she's a red-head with a model type body. A couple of years ago we went as Jason from Friday the 13th and one of his victims. Naaah, that was years ago. But yeah, the Keith one was hard to top - I wish I had pictures, I was pretty proud of that one.

I love Halloween, and honestly, I haven't dressed up in ages. Really, the last time was nine years ago, and I missed the party. I had a great Jackie Kennedy costume - the pink suit, the pillbox hat, little gloves, the works. I was gonna splatter myself with fake blood and wear a sign on my back that said, "ASK ME ABOUT MY TRIP TO DALLAS". The party was at 8:00 PM... and my new bed and mattress was being delivered at 3:30 PM. See where I'm headed? The delivery guys left, I put on my brand new sheets and comforter which I'd just bought the night before in anticipation of the bed delivery, laid down to test it out around 4:00 PM - just to test it! I'm fine, I'm just going to shut my eyes for 20 minutes on my new bed - and woke up in time for SNL at 11:30. I never got to the party, needless to say.

Yeah it certainly does. A friend of mine even suggested to find a huge gavel (which oddly enough one does in exist in the office) and go as that villain (Name escapes me at the moment) in that one Batman: The Animated Series episode that ended up being a third personality to Two-Face.

If I had the hair, I'd totally go as the Tenth Doctor. The easiest Doctor to do would probably be Eccelston, my brother's got a leather coat...

I've got a thing for British cult figures, anyway. I went as John Steed one year in college and Arthur Dent three years ago after I figured out that I had the exact same bathrobe that Martin Freeman wears in the film (and the insufferably neurotic outlook to boot).

I'd like to go as Indy, if only to get a fedora, coat and whip for opening night in May. Where would I find the necessary parts? Herein lies the question.

Funny you mention the hair cuz with enough proper messing around I would pull it off quite easily. Oddly enough I found the suit and it's dead ringer.

Problem...it's $400. Which to be honest for the cost of a suit, isn't exactly all that high.

I'm still working on it. I found an orange sweater and red skirt today but I still need the orange socks and red shoes. I'm hoping the socks I ordered online are something remotely resembling the color of the sweater. It's not surprising, I suppose, but it's hard to find ugly orange colored clothing.

No, not at all. Hell, I'd buy it, if I wasn't losing my hair...

I found the Steed suit at a Goodwill store for $75. It provided a good decade of service til it simply wore out.

You know I just might buy it next year (Saving for Sydey and I ain't going into debt for this). Fact is it is a real suit and would be fun to wear around the office. Alls I would need is some brown shoes. If anything I think I'll buy the tie as a treat for myself sometime soon.

And speaking of Halloween pics Englebert. My thinking was that this was just a thread to talk about Halloween costumes since the holiday is coming up. If people want to post pics of their old costumes, by all means go right ahead.

There was an older thread where people posted their pics (I remember someone's Ghostbusters costume, and I posted a couple in there as well), but I did a search, and couldn't find it...

I was Meatloaf last year. I'm all about simple costumes for the corpulent gentleman, this year I'm thinking Uncle Buck.2394

This thread is desperately lacking pictures of Chewers in costumes. I posted one in the Chewervision thread, but I want to see everyone else. Seeing costumes is much more entertaining than describing them.
Ok, apparently the sewer doesn't like posting pictures from my blog, and I had to use imageshack. Here's the pic of my wife and I as Jason & victim, complete with the "Best Couple Costume" trophy we won.

Best "lazy costume" ever. The best part was that this was at a party that took place on her friend's farm, complete with a hayride from the parking area back to the party. We just missed a ride, and didn't feel like waiting for the next one, so we walked. When I came out of the woods, people started freaking out before they realized that I was just another party-goer.

Back when the phrase "All that and a bag of chips" was popular (I'd guess about ten years ago), my friend and her husband went as "All that and a bag of chips." Her husband hates Halloween - loathes it completely. So they got invited to a Halloween party, and my friend had to figure out a costume for him that woudn't have him bitching all night. So he wore jeans, sneakers and a sweatshirt that said, "ALL THAT". She had the misfortune of wearing a foam rubber costume of a potato chip bag, with her head, arms and legs sticking out of the holes provided. It was cute though - technically, it looked like a bag of Lay's, so she was brand-specific at least.

This year I'm not sure as to what's happening, with Halloween falling on a weekday and we're moving that weekend. But last year, Buff's Gal, my buddy Roger and I went as zombies...Was also the first time I ever did the makeup and costumes and stuff. It was really fun. I'm also posting a picture of one of the best costumes at the party we went to. This guy made everything from scratch..including the sword...

My favorite costume was John Hinckley. I made a t-shirt with a nice pic of Jodie Foster that said "I *heart* Jodie Foster", had "Catcher in the Rye" tucked into my pocket and a gun tucked into my waistband.

Thanks man! I was actually surprised how well the makeup came out. My buddy in the pic with the Twins shirt had a sweet neck wound with fake glass sticking out. Our schtick was that he was at a bar watching a game when I burst through the window, glass shards piercing his neck and then bit him. Good stuff. Here's probably my fav shot of that night. Total accident, but I love how the girl is zombiefied in the mirror...

Great makeup. I'm wearing two polo shirts: one pink and one baby blue. Collars are popped of course. I'll also be sporting a trucker hat and a Bluetooth headset. After smattering everything with blood and guts, I'll be making quite a zombie douchebag.

Will post pics after tonight.

This is how it turned out. I wanted to wear flip flops, but it was rainy, and I like being as comfortable and warm as possible (I was a Ghostbuster and Indiana Jones the past couple times). All that was really missing was a Livestrong bracelet and a douchy belt buckle..

I'm probably going to the Zombie Walk tomorrow, I'll post more pics if I go.

I went as Maximilian Tyrannosaurus, an obscure character from a series so underground that only I know about and no one else. He's a...werewolf...from the future...who fights vampires...and space vikings.

I went as Dr. House. I even went so far as to make a fake label for a prescription bottle and put some Tic Tacs in it. I realized about an hour after getting to the bar that it probably wasn't a good idea to be showing it off and popping pills from it. I almost got into a fight with Super Dave Osborne when he said I wasn't really a doctor.

I've always wanted to go as Road Warrior Max, but it's cost prohibitive, since I won't do it unless I'm doing it right. A few Weens ago I dressed up in all blue and painted my hair electric blue, and I found a bunch of undersea stickers and glued them to my all-blue body. I went as "the sea". Conceptual costumes are ok, but only if you don't mind explaining yourself every five minutes.

Funny, if you had kept that blue paint. You could've gone as Amok from The Specials

Last night I saw a few costumes. Couple of Amy Winehouses, roman soldiers, firefighters, some guy with a navy cap and a spatula. I also then got into an extended conversation with a waitress named Flo and impressed some guy knowing that he went as Harold Lloyd.

Was there a kill crazy rampage at work also? Or did you do the "Stuck in the Middle with you" dance during lunch which thoroughly impressed the co-workers?

Dr. House at your service: (I had a great beard going but accidentally shaved out of habit on Friday... the day before the party)
