I am on the fence about buying this set. Has anyone here watched it and have an opinion about the movies?

For those who don't know it is four movies (the Definitive Editions): Tombs of the Blind Dead, The Ghost Galleon, Return of the Evil Dead and Night of the Seagulls. There is a fifth disc with interviews with director Amando de Ossorio. It also has a collectable booklet is packaged in a coffin-shaped box.

Are the movies worth it? I have read pretty good things in film books but want to hear from someone who is just a fan of horror. I found the set for $65 at Hastings and the price is $90 for the set at Amazon, but I want to make sure before I make the drop.

I would highly recommend them if you are a horror fan. The first two films in the series are fantastic, and the Templarios are some of the most iconic monsters in the horror canon. Some of the images in these films live lives of their own.

I'm reading the Jamie Russell book, "Book of the Dead: The Complete History of Zombie Cinema" and have been following along pretty well, watching (and re-watching) all the movies I have that she talks about being important in zombie cinema, and then got to the Blind Dead movies, which I had never heard of.

I figure $65 is a pretty good price for four movies and a bonus disk of interviews, so I'll probably get it.

Been thinking of getting this myself for a while, too, as I can come by it reasonably cheaply.

We've got a review of this from Giles on CC- http://www.creature-corner.com/?type=news&id=972

It's definitely worth it. Plus, the box is bad ass.

99% of me says "Go for it!" because they are cool and it's a great set, but the other 1% says "$65 is alot to spend on set of movies you're not familiar with." Why not Netflix the 1st (or borrow), and then decide?
