Working in retail is like living on the island of misfit toys. You're surrounded by people who's lives have ceased moving forward. And at first glance, it seems odd. "I don't get it, Jack. You're 34, you're a reasonably intelligent person, why did you give up?" And then Jack gets into the first of many conversations about what era Untertaker was the best (he's not entirely sure, but he knows the motorcycle riding 'American Badass' era was by far the worst) and you realise, Jack isn't Jack at all. He's a Charlie in the Box. And who wants to play with a Charlie in the Box?
It's a depressing mix of the socially inept, the lazy, the stupid, the semi-retired, and a couple women who got pregnant when they were 16. These are your people.
