FAMILY GUY MAKES ANOTHER LOUSY STAR WARS SPOOF

The trailer for Family Guy: Something, Something, Something Dark Side has just hit Apple trailers, and it's as devoid of humor as you'd expect. Watch as they point out their own jokes! (Oh, that chicken!) Cry as they spoof a opening scroll that's been spoofed dozens of times over the last thirty years! Cringe as they recycle that "hurt knee" gag for the millionth time! Plus, gay Stewie jokes!Remember how excited we all were when Family Guy made its way back to TV? Remember how quickly that excitement was squashed when we saw them recycle the same formula over and over? Yeah. Sometimes things end for a reason.
Check out the trailer for the film here.
Remark on how no one could make a bigger joke of Star Wars than Lucas already did on our boards!

More lazy comedy from McFarlane. Yeah, I laugh at some of his stuff, mostly because I'll be taken aback by something, but it's largely just witless, cheap-shot humor. That first Star Wars "spoof" was atrocious. Oh look, it's the same exact stuff that happened in Star Wars, only with Family Guy quirks. Ha ha ... oh, huh, ahem ... ha.

Come on. Family Guy is still funny.

Come on. Family Guy has NEVER been funny.

First three seasons were great. I think South Park, of all things, nailed what makes the show so boring. There's no substance to the show, it's all flashbacks and harmless "risque" humor. It's chuckle-worthy sometimes but there's nothing to it. It's easy humor.

God, I hate Family Guy.

As far as I can tell, Family Guy's quality has been consistent throughout its run. Do people really go back and watch older episodes and think "THIS is when Family Guy was good?"

I still like the run-on bits of light conversation and Brian & Stewie's developing relationship. Bastard made a 1 Billion Fucking Dollar deal this past year to do more of this shit. I'm guessing this Star Wars Spoof #2 is a direct result of that.

Yeah, FG tanked so hard. Seasons 1-3 are so amazing. After that... I don't even watch any more. There's nothing (absolutely nothing!) more tragic that a great show outstaying its welcome.

i think the older episodes often had a bit more of a family-centric story, however the fact is the jokes are just jokes, not character/story driven humorous results. it would be as if a comedy movie just randomly stopped and cut to a stand-up or another movie comedian occasionally and passed that off as clever writing.

Yeah, Family Guy just isn't as funny as, oh I don't know? The Apatow stuff? Guffaw. What you watching, Glee?

What a bunch of joyless pricks. Go and find something you DO like.

I take it you enjoy the Robot Chicken Star Wars spoof better then?

Does this article and this conversation really say more about "Family Guy" or more about geeks? I mean, the return of "Family Guy" is an amazing story, and the kind of people populating these message boards are directly responsible for it. So now Fox has a top twenty hit comedy on their hands, and suddenly the geeks turn the other way. Boy are we bitches!

Relax. South Park is still going strong, so at least you have an animated outlet for your smug self righteousness.

*stands up cautiously* My name is Jedi Bobster - and I like Family Guy. Geez, it's a funny 22 minutes of animated gubbinry. I watch it, it usually makes me chuckle a few times, the occasional guffaw (yes, guffaw) - then I'm done. I don't own any of them on DVD except the for Blue Harvest. And for a Star Wars fan Blue Harvest was funny, VERY funny at times. I'll be picking up this new SW spoof on without doubt. But yeah, that opening scroll wasn't funny, and it was about half way into that trailer when I first smiled, but a few more followed - and there's some very nice animation there too. Don't like it? Fair enough, move along - move along.

Why is this site so negative? Every second article is a hatchet job, why? Are you all so utterly creative and prolific that you can pick damn near everything to shreds? If you were actually creative or artisitc (as opposed to untalented and bitter) you might appreciate what it takes to create something from nothing. But why would you take that chance when it's SO much easier to snipe from the comfort of your keyboard and give out 20/20 hindsight opinions.
Get a life, this is the most hate filled movie site on the net.
Lame.

Family Guy is for people too stupid to watch South Park.

While the show has its moments, overall, the writing is lazy. Sunday night cartoons on a whole have sunk to a very low level of quality since Seth MacFarlane has taken over.
Remember the good ol' days?? Has it been so long since the Simpsons were at their peak and Futurama was on that we've forgotten that cartoons can have good writing??
At least South Park is still going strong.

Except Southpark is no longer funny.

hahaha anyone who doesn't find Family Guy funny must obviously be boring. Honestly Alex, you sound as fun as being gangbanged by bears. Also humor doesn't have a formula.

Ouchy, the nasty man said my favowit tv show is not funny and hurt my wittle feewings.
Comment #22 (Posted by Jam Banjo)
Ah come on, seriously? Family Guy makes me laugh, does its job. For the record, the Office (UK & US), Curb, Larry Sanders, South Park, Old Simpsons, Arrested Development, The Thick Of It, all very funny.
Different funny, but funny. You spoilsports.
"Hey we're the cantina band, anyone got any requests? Play that same song? Alright!" is a genius line.
Have some fun, you droll trolls. Cheers.

Sometimes there's a chuckle or two, but am I the only one who finds the show a little creepy? All the female celebrity insults and threats of/acts of sexual violence make me think that Seth Mcfarlane might have some serious woman issues.
That, plus the fact that I heard most of the jokes on Letterman and SNL twenty five years ago

"I watch it, it usually makes me chuckle a few times, the occasional guffaw - then I'm done." "Family Guy makes me laugh, does its job." Sounds AWESOME.

Guys, guys... you're all right: Family Guy USED to be funny and enjoyable, but it's pretty terrible now.
Comment #26 (Posted by Fark You)
Family Guy = unfunny Simpsons ripoff
This sounds terrible. Family Guy sucks now. It didn't even take South Park for me to figure that one out. I read the Mad Magazine that pointed out everything South Park did only about a year before. Everything they said was so true.

"You think that's bad ... "

Someone kill those manatees. And McFarland. Thanks.

Remember that time we spoofed those star wars movies?

It was all downhill after me.

that live 'comedy' hour was just another nail in the coffin that won't shut.. wtf is that corny shit.. theres a reason the simpsons cast is paid to not showcase their voices elsewhere.. all i see is seths smug face whining about shit when i watch that show.. (southpark has taken current event bitching to a new level, but its the characters that still run the show)
Comment #33 (Posted by princess peet)
The only thing worse then family guy are the retarded 13 and 14 year olds who find the show so funny, oh actualy, the fact that mcfarlan has 2 other cartoon comedys that are somehow lazier and unfunnier then lame ass fucking family guy might be sadder. Please watch actual funny cartoons - old simpsons, futurama (not including the movies) and old south park
Comment #34 (Posted by Martin_Blank)
The fact that all these people needed South Park to point out Family Guy's plot structure says a great deal. The fact it was only when the show became very popular and McFarlane very rich that these same people have suddenly hate it is also very revealing. Sure, they'll cry about how they always hated the show or how the quality went into freefall but it's clearly horseshit.
They're just as childish and adolescent as the actual children they decry for watching Family Guy.

once again the comment section has proven a strange fact: hate is easier than apathy.
Comment #36 (Posted by Teh gang bangerr)
In alex's defense, being gang banged by bears can be really really fun if you go in with a positive attitude and a bucket of lube.
Comment #37 (Posted by Ryan Dunn)
Does anybody on this site like anything besides obscure shit? Why even bother reporting this?
Anybody notice how the downfall of Family Guy corresponds with the last presidential election? McFarlane isn't funny unless he's miserable, and nothing made him more miserable than the Bush administration. Now he's happy, and the show isn't funny anymore.
For being a show "it's all flashbacks and harmless "risque" humor" it sure still manages to piss off a lot of ultra-conservatives and parental groups. :)
