CONAN WRITERS ARE CHARTING DRAKE'S FORTUNE

Video game adaptations: they keep trying! An adaptation of the PS3 game Uncharted: Drake's Fortune has been in the works for some time, going through a number of writers. The latest are the duo behind the new Conan movie, which from what I've read of the script may not be great news. But at any rate, Latino Review is reporting that Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer are the newest guys on the merry-go-round, and that Sony is fast tracking the picture.
I have never so much as seen a frame of the PS3 game, but Wikipedia helpfully tells me that the game charts the journey of protagonist Nathan Drake, supposed descendant of the explorer Sir Francis Drake, as he seeks the lost treasure of El Dorado, with the help of friend Victor "Sully" Sullivan and journalist Elena Fisher. Sounds just generic enough, although I don't know if there's some kind of gameplay uniqueness that needs to come through in the movie. I'm sure I'll hear about it in the comments below.

Uncharted and Uncharted 2 are the best action films to be made in years. - It's just that they happen to be games. I don't understand why they don't just use the game writers to flesh out the bits between the action sequences. (and drop the zombies.) The games writing is miles better than 90% of the crud released as action films this year.

I'm not sure, I think I prefer to play those games instead of seeing them as a movie. Those games are actually kinda like Indiana Jones but, they last 10-15 hours. It would just be another Tomb Raider, although Uncharted is better than Tomb Raider overall.

How's about a Left 4 Dead movie instead? With Bruce Willis as Bill and Jason Statham as Francis? Who's with me?

I showed my wife (who doesn't give a rat fuck about video games) the left for dead 2 intro last night, and she said, "holy shit, I'd watch that movie."
Make it hollywood! Fuck drakes fortune in its ear! (It was actually a good game)

Omg. Bruce Willis is in fact old enough to be Bill now. That's so sad...

A L4D movie would be good if it was about 15 minutes long.
Drake's should be easy, it's a generic enough Indiana Jones story to easily translate to film.

How did this turn into a conversation about Left 4 Dead? Stay on point people.
With the proper treatment Uncharted could be a film franchise rivaling Indy, but seeing as the source material is from a video game, it'll be treated as B-list at best and they'll give us another lackluster adaptation. These are two of the best games, not only of this generation, but any.
Someone call Darabont.

"How did this turn into a conversation about Left 4 Dead? Stay on point people." In an effort to defend my thread hijacking, I am going to steer the talk back to Left 4 Dead. Also, Ellen Page as Zoey, and Black Guy from 40 Year Old Virgin as Louis! Grabbin' peeeeels.

The Uncharted series is tons of funs - its characters and their humor has a lot to do with it though.......could make for a great or bad movie.....it'll all depending on the talent
