LA: BE ONE OF THE ONLY PEOPLE TO EVER SEE IDIOCRACY ON THE BIG SCREEN!

When Fox finally released Mike Judge's Idiocracy they dumped it in a big way. It played a handful of theaters, and some of the theaters didn't even get the movie's title in advance. The poster was awful, there was no advertising and the movie slipped away, to be discovered and revered on home video. That's where I saw Idiocracy and fell in love with it. The movie is rough - Fox never quite let Judge finish it - but it's also raw, an angry cry against the modern culture of stupidity. And it's all too chillingly plausible; Luke Wilson is a man of completely average intellect who gets frozen and wakes up in the future, where a wrestler is president, plants get fed sports drinks, Ow! My Balls! is the biggest show on television and everyone is a complete moron.
The New Beverly is showing the film tomorrow - Saturday the 21st - at midnight, and if you're in LA you need to be there. This movie is truly great, and I'm excited to see it with a crowd. Tickets are just SEVEN BUCKS (!) and you can pre-order by clicking here or just show up at the door. Here are directions to the New Bev.
See you tomorrow night.

Even though the movie's half-finished, it's still one of the best comedies of the decade, one that I've returned to over and over again. It worth seeing for Terry Crews alone.

Jealous. Should be a blast.

This movie is mildly amusing at best.... "revered on home video"? Maybe by the same people that the movie is making fun of. I like Mike Judge, but this is certainly the worst thing he as ever done.

jesus - lighten up dude. The movie's hilarious. It was problems sure - but it's a solid 3.5/5.

I'm with RCA on this one. To me it felt like Idiocracy only had one joke which it proceeded to run into the ground for about 80 minutes.

I saw i in the theater and almost walked out. It is a painful movie to watch.

i liked it a lot but it did feel slightly rushed / unfinished / undeveloped.

Yeah, kind of half-baked. I would be shocked if it was actually 'revered.'
Still pretty funny, and overall a good concept. Lots of quotable shit and god, Terry Crews was on fire.

Thankfully, we will never enter into this world. Thus, Devin is doing his own small part to prevent idiocracy from becoming a reality.

Like what RCA said, I rented this. To me this film is horrible with a few funny bits but a bad film none the less. Great concept but failed.

I saw this in the theater opening day. It SUCKED. Its one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It wasn't funny and if you think the premise was clever you're a retard.

Actually this movie is a classic. Sorry supermarch,go back to watching Transformers 2 and calling people who can read fags. This movie is almost a mirror on current society. My biggest gripe is that it takes place 500 years in the future, no way will it take that long to get that bad. Especially with garbage like supermarch infesting the planet.

This is a really enjoyable film, especially on subsequent viewings when your expectations are adjusted and you can appreciate the details. Over all, I can see how many would be disappointed. I wouldn't call it a great movie, personally.

That's better than being a pansy white kid that cries about the racism that didn't exist in Transformers 2. Gotta love liberals and their white guilt.

Yeah mudkips fuck white guilt I'm all about white pride. Anyway, I love Idiocracy. That movie will always be linked in my mind with an experience seeing two people having sex in a movie theater.

Idiocracy is a brilliant satire that was screwed over in the edit by producers who added the ponderous and redundant voice over to explain all the jokes. Apparently they found the world of the movie too ugly to market so they dumped it on video. I wish they would do a proper directors cut, but the money's not there for it.
