It's not often in this job that I'm truly surprised by a trailer, but the one for the Steve Carrell/Tina Fey comedy Date Night really floored me. I didn't know this was The In-Laws meets Parenthood, for one thing.What didn't surprise me is how deadly unfunny this Shawn Levy movie looks. I don't understand why Fey and Carrell would make a movie with a guy this middle of the road, and I don't understand what they possibly thought was going to come of it. From the looks of this trailer: nothing good.
One thing I did like: James Franco's very brief appearance at the end. He has killer line delivery. Everything else in this trailer gave me agita.

Reminds me of Adventures in Babysitting. If this had come out in 1986 all the geeks would be saying it's a classic.
