MATT DAMON GETS A LITTLE HIGH TENSION

Clint Eastwood is working on a "supernatural thriller" (hey, you ain't gonna get Oscar nods by making no dang horror film!) called Hereafter, and it appears he's found his leads. The film will star Matt Damon and Cecile de France, who you probably all best remember as the lead in Alexandre Aja's High Tension. There might be a third lead, as the story is about three people who are affected by a death in some way. Quite a lengthy description, I know, and while we don't know much about the film there's been talk that there's some Sixth Sense-like events going on. It will be really interesting to see de France tackle some genre material once again. While Haute Tension feels like someone's attempt to film the phrase "lost potential", she was great in it.
Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon) wrote the script and is executive producing alongside Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Tim Moore. Filming began last month and will take place in Paris, London, Hawaii and San Francisco, wrapping it all up in time for a December 2010 release. Eastwood's also got Matt Damon starring alongside Morgan Freeman in Invictus this December, because it's not Oscar season without a new Eastwood film.

Having read the script, it's not really a supernatural thriller at all (the trades were wrong). It's really a 3-character piece interconnected story about people have brushes with near-death experiences (and Damon is a psychic with abilities to read that stuff). Just FYI, there's no "thriller" aspects at all and if there's any "supernatural" parts it's just brief glimpses of the after life.

Hey! Comments are back! This how I first started interacting with people on the site, and I'm glad to see them return. With that said, I wonder if a bad supernatural thriller could knock the Oscar-sheen off Mr Eastwood, in the critics eyes

Uh, if one of the characters is a psychic, then you've got a "supernatural" part.

I just wish Clint would do a FUN movie again. All the movies I grew up watching clint in were awesome fun. I cannot imagine another movie in the vein of every which way any more.... Sad.

"High Tension" was an excellent horror film. Cecile de France was very good in that. I know a lot of people hated the ending, but it didn't ruin the film for me. That being said, I'd definitely like to see Clint Eastwood's take on the horror/supernatural genre.

It's going to be alright Scott, just breathe easy and go to your happy place and the nasty men won't be able to hurt you anymore.

Holy shit comments are back. I was just watching Coogan's Bluff, I wish he'd make an entire film out of the scene where he kicks Tisha Sterling's ass.
