Mad Men's January Jones has joined the cast of Nicolas Cage's upcoming vigilante thriller, The Hungry Rabbit Jumps for director Roger Donaldson.  Pic centers on a man (Cage) who, after a crime is perpetrated on his wife, gets more than he bargained for when he enlists a vigilante group to help him settle the score. Jones will play the wife.  Story was scripted by Robert Tanen and will be produced by James Stern of Endgame and Tobey Maguire and Jenno Topping of Maguire Entertainment.  Meanwhile, Jones also has the thriller, Unknown White Male, upcoming, which will bookend her shooting on this film.  Budget is $30 million and the film bgins shooting in December.

Josh Lawson, Emma Lung and Ron Perlman have joined the cast of the indie, Crave, for first-time director, Charles de Lauzirika.  Lauzirika wrote the screenplay with Robert Lawton (Sex & Sushi) and will produce with Robert Green (Waiting...). Scott Robinson and Marissa Neiman are co-producing the project, which began shooting Friday in Detroit.  Crave centers on a troubled photographer (Lawson) whose dangerous visions wreak havoc when his romance with a young woman (Lung) ends and he is pursued by a world-weary detective (Perlman).  de Lauzirika's background is in producing DVD extras content, including material for Blade Runner, Spider-Man 2 and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.  Lawson recently starred in and co-wrote Squid: The Movie, while Lung is next set to appear in Triangle.  Mr. Perlman, of course, needs no introduction nor background info.

Steve Carell is set to take up golf in the upcoming comedy, Missing Links, based on the novel by ESPN's Rick Reilly.  Pic centers on a group of bumblers who, after playing for years at a run-down municipal golf course in a working-class Boston neighborhood, concoct a series of schemes that they hope will lead to them teeing off at a nearby elite club.  Carell has both Date Night and the Get Smart sequel upcoming.  He is also co-producing through his Carousel shingle along with Bobby Cohen (Revolutionary Road).  Jay Lavender (The Break-Up) is scripting.

Ricky Gervais is set to host the January 17th broadcast of the Golden Globes.  "I have resisted many other offers like this, but there are just some things you don't turn down," Gervais said Monday, noting that he'd been promised "free rein as a host."  Gervais recently starred in The Invention of Lying and will next be seen in Cemetery Junction.

Actress Sherri Saum (In Treatment, Rescue Me) has landed a recurring role on Gossip Girl.  She will play Holland Kemble, a powerful business executive-turned-Upper East Side trophy wife and could be trouble for Lily (Kelly Rutherford) and Rufus (Matthew Settle).

Lisa Kudrow is set to guest star on fellow Friends alum Courtney Cox's show, Cougar Town.  “She’ll play a dermatologist that my character can’t stop going to even though [she's] mean to me,” Cox told tvguidemagazine.com.

Phil Morris is set to reprise his role of John Jones, aka Martian Manhunter, on a two-part Justice Society episode of Smallville early in 2010.  The episode will be titled "Society" and is being written by Geoff Johns.  In the episode, Justice Society members Hawkman, Dr. Fate and Stargirl will also be making appearances.  “To be honest, there were so many characters and so much great story that people would’ve been robbed of some great moments if we kept it to just one hour,” says [Exec Producer Kelly] Souders. “So now that it’s a two-parter, you won’t miss anything.”
