Figured it was time to get some movie news involving Harrison that does not include a fedora and George Lucas on CHUD. I'm here to tell Harrison fans that in 2010 you are going to be treated to not one movie but two (more on the other one later) and to say the least this gal is overcome with excitement.
On January 22nd the family drama Extraordinary Measures (previously titled Untitled Crowley Project) will hit theaters. This is CBS Films first motion picture release and the movie was inspired by the true story of John Crowley and is inspired by The Cure by Geeta Anand.
Summary: From his working class roots, John Crowley (Brendan Fraser) has finally begun to taste success in corporate America. Supported by his beautiful wife Aileen (Keri Russell) and their three children, John is on the fast track. But just as his career is taking off, Crowley walks away from it all when his two youngest children, Megan and Patrick, are diagnosed with a fatal disease. With Aileen by his side, harnessing all of his skill and determination, Crowley teams up with a brilliant, but unappreciated and unconventional scientist, Dr. Robert Stonehill (Harrison Ford). Together they form a bio-tech company focused on developing a life-saving drug. One driven to prove himself and his theories, the other by a chance to save his children, this unlikely alliance eventually develops into mutual respect as they battle the medical and business establishments in a fight against the system - and time. But, at the last minute, when it appears that a solution has been found, the relationship between the two men faces a final test - the outcome of which will affect the fate of John?s children.
When I first heard about this project earlier in the year my initial reaction was not a good one. It was on the line of "oh boy, a disease of the week Hallmark channel movie", but the more I've heard about it that first reaction has been tempered. I'm glad to see movies like this getting made and add Harrison to the equation my happiness doubles.
Extraordinary Measures now has a Facebook page where they have recently updated it with some photos and you can check out a new featurette.
Shameful plug: I'm looking for new Facebook friends also.
