The Nutshell
December 21st, 2012 is quickly approaching and it is a date that many cultures have claimed will bring major changes to the planet and the human race. This History Channel documentary investigates said prophecies.

The Lowdown
Right now I am pretty burnt out with any and all things Nostradamus. A big part of this has nothing to do with the man's writings as much as it has to do with these so called Nostradamus experts. After watching my fair share of prediction based documentaries on cable channels such as The History Channel and History International these so called experts have taken Nostradamus' writings and twisted the words around so much that it has become laughable. There was a documentary on the other night regarding the third anti-christ and these so called experts took the number 1119 that was in a writing and are now saying Nostradamus predicted the 911 attacks! What was once an intriguing study of an interesting man has been reduced to the realms of foolishness.
Nostradamus 2012 did turn out to be a decent documentary mainly due to the theories on the date of December 21st, 2012. Whether it is the Egyptians, Mayans, the Hopi or Chinese scholars all to some extent agree that there is going to be some shaking up of the planet at the end of 2012. Where the problem comes into play is modern day believers of these predictions have nothing to back up their belief that a catastrophic event is going to take place, in fact the majority rely on modern day weather patterns to back up their claims and yet scientists say these patterns are normal.

If you are looking for definitive conclusions this documentary will disappoint, which is what I was left feeling. The highlight was when the filmmakers focused more on the predictions instead of the modern day theorists as that aspect of the 2012 date is intriguing and does provide material that you can discuss with others afterwards. If you are a sceptic of all things relating to 2012 ushering in disasters this documentary is not going to change your mind and in fact might just bolster your opinion. If you are the type who looks at 2012 with a positive attitude Nostradamus 2012 does end on an upbeat note with a theory that instead of utter ruin for mankind 2012 will begin a new era of transitions that will make the planet a better place to live. Now if that doesn't happen I will have to upset the natural order of things and wreak my own brand of havoc, so look out.

The Package
The mini-documentary worth checking out as there is a bit more information about certain theories involving the Sun, Egyptians, End of Time, the Hopi, and the Masons. Nothing earth shattering (get it? The earth shattering. Oh me and my puns) but still interesting all the same.
