"Warner Bros. is turning to Tom and Jerry to create its own Alvin and the Chipmunks-like family franchise." Read that sentence as often as you like and it will always sound like shit. Same for "an origin story that reveals how Tom and Jerry first meet and form their rivalry before getting lost in Chicago and reluctantly working together during an arduous journey home" and "live action/animated combo." The Scott Bradley scores, clean but reality-bending line work and good-natured ultraviolence of the '40s Hanna-Barbera shorts all come down to this. Thanks, but I'll watch the good stuff on YouTube. This movie won't be aimed at anyone over the age of eight, anyway.
