WHEN CAPTAIN AMERICA HIRES HIS MIGHTY SCREENWRITERS

Two of the people who won a 'Character and Morality in Entertainment' award for their work on the first Narnia film are negotiating a deal to script Captain America for Joe Johnston and Kevin Feige and his minions. That makes sense. The fact that such a thing -- the CAMIE -- exists is brilliant, for one, and that one is held by the guys who might script the adventures of the most moral, upright superhero in line after Superman is too good to be true. Wonder how highly that factors into Marvel's desire to make this happen? Probably not much. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely were part of the team that adapted both Narnia movies for Andrew Adamson, which might have been one of the more thankless tasks in recent entertainment. They also adapted The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, for which they scored an Emmy.
Beyond that, I'm still waiting to hear about who'll wear the suit. With a face and personality to anchor the character, we'll have a much better idea of what to expect.

I'm surprised how "light" Marvel seems to be going with this one considering the popularity of Brubaker's and Millar's recent takes on the character, and the (unspoken) assumption that all superhero movies should now emulate the tone of The Dark Knight. Then again Favreau proved a pleasant surprise for Iron Man, so I'll remain cautiously optimistic.

Neal McDonough . . . I completely second whoever said that. He doesn't get enough high-profile work, and he'd be perfect for Captain America.

So they choose these guys to make a light version over Ed Brubaker's highly lauded run of Captain America which is not only considered the best Cap run of all time but one of the best runs in comics in history.

Mark Valley should have been The Spirit, dang it!
Isn't Steve Rogers supposed to be about 25 years old at best when he gets frozen?

Mark Valley is aging badly, I don't think he could be a good Cap. I want Patrick Wilson. Remember he has to appear weak at the beginning before the super-soldier serum, so you want someone who isn't always gong to have a huge jaw and massive muscles.
BTW, who invited these Zac Efron fans? How did they get onto this site?

Chris Elliot is perfect for this! Hopefully he has time to spare between shooting episodes of Knight Car (see Late night with David Lettermen 11-19-08) and doing nothing.
