(Purchase from Amazon)
If you are looking for some vintage material this 5-disc set is the one to get next Tuesday. Griffith directed only two talkies (Abraham Lincoln, The Struggle) and as an added bonus there is a three part documentary that chronicles the life and career of one of the pioneers.
Way Down East (1920)
The Avenging Conscience (1914)
Abraham Lincoln (1930)
The Struggle (1931)
Sally of the Sawdust (1925)
D.W. Griffith: Father of Film
Forgotten Noir & Crime Vol 4
(Purchase from Amazon)
With the success of Warner Brothers fantastic Film Noir box-sets it is no surprise that other distributors are wanting in on some of that $ action. VCI Entertainment got their hands on some obscure movies and after readong more about each film it appears they lean more towards the crime drama genre (correct me if I'm wrong - comment below or send me an email to chudfilm@sbcglobal.net). If you slap Film Noir on the cover watch movie fans go wild. I enjoy obscure movies and if they are over 40 years old I'm sold!
Counterspy Meets Scotland Yard
Radar Secret Service
Motor Patrol
Mr. District Attorney
Western Pacific Agent
Treasure of Monte Cristo
Roaring City
Sky Liner
Mitzi Gaynor: Razzle Dazzle! The Special Years
(Purchase from Amazon)
A two hour spectacular extravaganza that will leave you breathless from the sheer magnitude of this woman's powers.
Actually I only included this at the request of my boss Mr. Nick as he is aching to get this documentary for Christmas. Nick loves him some Mitzi.
The Who At Kilburn: 1977
(Purchase from Amazon)
The infamous Who concert that many a fan has been waiting for! CHUD is supposed to have a contest for this release so stay tuned. One highlight I've been reading about is when a fan makes the mistake of touching Townsend's guitar picks on his amp - man oh man, you don't mess with the man's stuff.
