DESTINY'S AMAZON?

It's past midnight and I was just doing some late night surfing before settling in for the night, so I'm not going to spend too much time on an item like this because it's more wishful thinking on Mrs. Jay-Z's part than an actual news story. But according to an LATimes.com blog piece,
Beyonce has her eyes on the role of Wonder Woman.
She's actually gone so far as to have met with representatives of both DC and Warner Bros. Says the former Destiny's Child front woman: "I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman? It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It's time for that, right?"
Beyonce goes on to add that, "After doing these roles that were so emotional I was thinking to myself, 'OK, I need to be a superhero. Although, when you think about the psychology of the heroes in the films these days, they are still a lot of work, of course, and emotional. But there's also an action element that I would enjoy."
My take? Well Beyonce's got the body for it no doubt. Unfortunately, by the time a Wonder Woman pic does get made, Beyonce's full grown daughter will be eligible for the role. Still...
Now before the racial outrage and violence commences, keep in mind one very important fact: Lynda Carter was and continues to be half-Hispanic.

How about...an actress??

Half-hispanic or not, Linda Carter looks white as fuck. But here's another problem- Beyonce can't act worth a shit. Beyonce is Beyonce in everything. Find someone who can come off as beautiful and powerful at the same time. Also, save that liberal-race shit, pop-quiz hotshot, if they were casting 'Black Panther' or 'Nic Cage' and Justin Timberlake wanted the role, wouyld it be racist to call bullshit on that?

If you were casting "Nic Cage" why not just hire Nicolas Cage? He could pull it off.

Rosario Dawson God Dammit!

I like Rosario as a choice for wonder woman. I've often thought that since wonder woman is a descendant of an ancient amazonian race, that a little ethnicity would be appropriate. Of course Greek would probably be the most accurate choice. I would be nice to mix up the racial identities of DC's big three a little, after all Superman is a highly unlikely white guy from outer space. So leave that white supremacy, hateful, trailer talk for the clan meeting. No one cares, the rest of the world has moved on.

Beyonce has not shown anyone she can act worth a lick. They are plenty of gorgeous actresses out there but the problem is the studios want a name or are trying to build a daughter of an executive into star material to be bothered with finding someone with talent. So we probably will be stuck with Megan Fox as WM because who thought Jessica Alba would be a good Sue Storm?
BTW I had five of my names tonight so forgive my ranting.

Rosario has one thing anybody I've ever heard for the role doesn't: Love and Respect for Comics.

I can't wait to see the outrage when they remake shaft agian with a white guy playing shaft. THEN it will be racist.

I'd be down with Dawson for Wonder Woman, she can act after all.
And to be honest, a 'black' WW doesn't bug me at all to be honest, but a popstar playing WW does.

Yeah, the idea of Beyonce isn't really doing it for me. Rosario, on the other hand, would indeed be a wonderful choice although in all honesty, I kinda find it difficult to get too enthused about a Wonder Woman film per se. It would require a great director-scriptwriter-actress combo to get me to actually go watch it.

I have been coming to this site since the late 90's and the one constant story is Wonder Woman. Every hot young star of the moment has been "In Talks" or considering the role. Call me a cynic, but this is NEVER going to be a live action movie.

Well, DC did say that, after the success of the last Batman film, they were interested in going darker. (Sorry.)

Muscles, strong personality, big chest and acting skills, please. Greek looking, well tanned and big boned nose would be apropiate. Rosario seems more fitting than Beyonce. She would fill out the bra perfectly.

Do people really care about a Wonder Woman movie? Really? For crimminey sake's...

Nobody wants a Wonder Women movie. Upon release, it will race to the Walmart 5 dollar DVD bin alongside Catwoman and Elektra. We have spent so much time talking about this movie, I iwsh it would just come out and bomb already.

LOL, Glen! It's wrong! It's so wrong! but...ROFLMAO!

Nice one, Glen. Don't apologize for being witty.
Oh, and no Wonder Woman movie please. Let the studios waste their money on another REMAKE or something...

"After doing these roles that were so emotional I was thinking to myself, 'OK, I need to be a superhero."
I would love to know which of her emotional roles she thinks prepared her for carrying a major studio superhero franchise. The Pink Panther? Austin Powers?

I don't think there's anything wrong with a black WW, but someone with more acting ability would be nice. It's not as if you need a classically trained thespian to pull off the role, just more than tits and a line reading.

Beyonce... Nobody wants to see you act. I mean it. Warner Brothers... No one would want to see this movie. Do not let her inflate the ego to Tyra Banks status. I think we all remember Catwoman... this would be worse. Meanwhile what the fuck is Winona Ryder up to these days? I'm pretty sure while she's been on hiatus she's turned into a woman. This could be like... one of the biggest comebacks ever. I think we all can agree we need her back in our fantasies. And for the record I for one am tired of Rosario Dawson. I don't care how geek-friendly she is, Clerks 2 killed that shit for me.

Personally, I always liked Eva Green for the role, but her being 5'6" (Carter was 5'9") is a problem.

I think we should go a completely different direction. Johnny Depp for Wonder Woman, Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the love interest, and a CGI global storm (emanating from Olympus!) as the villain. To the invisible jet!

Hopefully they will treat Beyonce like Sam Raimi treated Freddie Prince Jr.
I for one would like to see a good Wonder WOman movie because to have a female superhero would differentiate it from the pack. Plus, I'm always interested in well done female characters in movies (especially if they are the lead) since I think it is more difficult to do without making her obnoxious, and it is so rarely done well in Hollywood.

I think they should make a movie based off of the Resident Evil 5 video game and have Beyounce star as Sheva Alomar.

To make wonder woman credible they need a good actress.
No thank you.
Changing Neville's ethnicity in I Am Legend was no big deal. His race had nothing to do with the story. Wonder Woman is a Greek. Her entire origin story would have to be altered in order to accomodate Beyonce who is little more than a mediocre actress regardless of her musical talents.
But hey, she could always do the theme song, right?

Rosario for Vixen! It's perfect.
