THE LITTLE GIRL IN YOU WILL PROBABLY LOVE THIS TWILIGHT TRAILER

The new Twilight trailer was set to premiere on television tonight, and still has done so, but in the meantime a YouTube version is already available. While I'm far less ignorant about Stephanie Meyer's teen vampire books than I was a few months ago, I'm no more interested in them now. Director Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen, Lords of Dogtown) is almost enough to get my ass in the seat, and from what we can see here I'm interested in some of her visual choices for the movie. The opening in particular might really capture the visual atmosphere of rural Washington state. (Then again, so did Twin Peaks, so I guess I'm set on that front.)
But the CW pacing doesn't add much. (What else did I expect? That's the movie's audience.) Nor does the very surface-level description of what's going on in the story. More than wanting to see Twilight, this trailer made me ready to watch the first two Blade movies again, and I'd infinitely rather see Let the Right One In than the lot of 'em.
Do yourself a favor: after watching the trailer, go read the comments on YouTube. Puts the whole thing in perspective.

Ah yes, the male-geek double standard. Why is it male geeks can foam at the fucking mouth over Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hellboy and countless other comic book bullshit, which inherently share the same structure (macho-posturing and fascist escapism) and thats perfectly acceptable, but woman are suddenly total fucking TOOLS because they're wetting their panties over this? This has as much legitemacy as all your precious nerd properties. God forbid something appeals to woman and their sensibilities.

The second half of the trailer is nearly identical to the preview I saw with Burn After Reading (which seemed like a really odd pairing). It still doesn't do the film any favors. The action looks less impressive than most episodes of Smallville. And I'm still having trouble taking daylight vampires seriously. Is this a recent development in the genre? I haven't been keeping track.

Yes, Dick Cheese but we don't want to f#@k Iron Man, Spider-Man or Hellboy at least I'm pretty sure most of us don't.

But if they were women, you would... I know I'd like to fuck them all. Wait, only Iron Man. And I'd definitely fuck the guy in Twilight. So... not quite understanding your retort.

"He's got unpara......lethal". Right. Those lines right there. That did it for me. Or...maybe the fact that the lead 'bad' vampire looks like a member of the Relapse records street team, anywhere, PA, circa 1998. This just looks like some lame PG-13 crap for the rejected youth that can't afford the Miley Cyrus lifestyle. Dick Cheese, go fuck yourself. Take your Suicide Girl-Erase Errata-Ani DiFranco-Devin Fagaci bullshit and get a life. This is a garbage trailer on a garbage site. And with the fucking attack-of-the-Quarantine promotion taking over EVERYTHING, I'm outta here for good. I can't wait for Encyclopedia Dramatica to rip this apart. Have nice lives, Devin and Dick Cheese!

"after watching the trailer, go read the comments on YouTube. Puts the whole thing in perspective". It does. Sad, sad thing.
