The ever-searching eyes over at Quiet Earth have discovered a slew of behind the scenes pictures from the upcoming adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's The Road, starring Viggo Mortensen. (Some minor spoilers here, but why haven't you read the book already? It's a friggin' masterpiece.)

They were spotted on actor Jeremy Ambler's personal site. He plays "Man in Cellar" and is among a group of people who have been captured by is among the crazy cannibals from the film. The makeup looks pretty brutal- and just look at how old and tired Viggo looks! Definitely digging the feel of this one. Check his site out for dozens of more pictures.
Along with that, the official site for the movie has just gone up. It's just a splash page right now but it's oh so nice to see that release date so close. Let's hope for the best with this one.

Check the 'Jeremy Ambler' link. It's got an extra space at the end of it. Looks great. Viggo looks as haggard as Lance Henriksen's left cheek.

Whoops, thanks for the heads up sir. And yeah, everything's looking bleak and worn, just as they should.

this is gonna be one fucking dour movie. A kind of Joy Luck Club for the post apocalyptic suicidal set.
