OH DON PIANO IS THE VILLAIN OF BATMAN 3, DAVID GOYER SAYS

Big props to Shawn Adler at MTV for going to the source and discrediting every single rumor about Batman 3, many of which were started or popularized by MTV. It's nice to see someone over there fighting the good fight.Adler spoke to David Goyer and asked him point blank about the sequel to The Dark Knight and all of the casting and plot rumors. Goyer put it succinctly:
“It’s all B.S.,” he said. “ALL of it.”
Thank you. It's tough being one of the few voices on the web trying to tell people the truth, and now I have Goyer on my side. There are no villains. There is no script. Christopher Nolan hasn't signed on. There's been nothing at all. Goyer says that he and Nolan haven't even talked about it, let alone gotten to work on Batman 3.
I wish this would mark the end of it all until something real takes place, but I'm sure that we'll see another round of rumors start in the British tabs or the poorly written, fact-free blogosphere, and we'll be right back at 'I heard Hillary Duff is playing Batgirl!'

Screw Riddler, Penguin and Catwoman. What this sequel needs is... Superman. Put HIM up as the 'antagonist'. He is brought in by request of the government to take down Batman, leading to the greatest superhero brwal since Supes II. Including Superman in this would be totally left field, and would work well since A) Harvey 'White Knight' Dent is dead, the city needs a new shining hero. B) It works well with the theme presented at the end of 'Dark Knight', Batman is now the 'villian' and the authorities must now put a stop to all his latex-clad, growling/lisping shenanigans.

The next Batman movie is the heartwarming tale of how the dark knight won back the heart of Gotham through community service and, in the films climax, by saving a bag full of puppies from drowning.

For the love of god, quit the Oh Don Piano crap. It was cute the first time. Now you're just trying to sound...well, I was going to say, "clever," but that's far too kind.

I have been beaten to death. Repeatedly. By a fat bearded man.

i'm sorry, am i the only one that remembers Nolan saying he had a trilogy to make and they all signed on for 3 films? I know Bale has signed on for a third film, as Devin pointed it out when he lambasted EW's interview in which the reviewer asked him why he choose to reprise the role for Dark Knight. Devin's insightful commentary pointed out that the interviewer hadn't done his homework since it's common knowledge that Bale is signed for 3 films, am i wrong in thinking at some point Nolan said <pre-BatBegins, mind you> that he had a trilogy ready?

"i'm sorry, am i the only one that remembers Nolan saying he had a trilogy to make and they all signed on for 3 films?"
Yes, because that never happened. A couple of the principle actors (including Bale) are signed on for three films. A trilogy has never been Nolan's stated intention but, rather, in this day and age, is assumed.
Nice to see Devin finding more ways to pat himself on the back.

LOL @ The Don Piano Reference.

I came here just to say please stop with the Don Piano thing, and look there is already a comment complaining about it. I've always thought it was a bit of a unfitting stretch to use it to describe this kind of word-of-mouth hollywood bullshit. An Oh Don Piano if you will. It's certainly confusing to the rest of the world who doesn't know what YouTube clip originated it, and to the rest of us it's just annoying. You're better than this. Just let it go.

That's the smile of a man who has a secret. A "Harvey isn't really dead" kind of secret.

I love the Oh Don Piano. Lets you know right away what the score is. And as far as it being, "confusing to the rest of the world who doesn't know what YouTube clip originated it,"... SO?

Oh Devin Tuba! Give UP on the Don Piano thing already! Or better yet... DON'T REPORT ON IT.

Kubrick Fan, drbenway is incorrect, and Nolan did once speak of a trilogy, briefly. However, some of what were mentioned as ideas for the third part (very roughly sketched out, initially) were incorporated into TDK. So there are no solid plans for a trilogy.

I'd still like to see them incorporate The Reaper/Phantasm into Film 3. At least that's what I had in mind with Rachel dying and the bleakness that's to come in the series.

I hereby vow that if I ever get a film made, I will name a character "Don Piano" in this bit's honor. Screw the haters.

Rachel comes back in 3, and it turns out she and the Joker were the same person all along, neatly sidestepping Heath's demise to keep everyone's favourite painted psycho alive.

the worst rumour was the cher as catwoman rumour by some british journalist with too much time on their hands and who also said the title was the caped crusader. and then bullshit like angelina jolie asking tera patrick advice about playing catwoman. what the fuck? I hope Nolan destroys all these rumours and makes another crime film with a big actor(none of the rumoured ones) as Blackmask and Bob Hoskins as Penguin. The original rumoured story for TDK.

Just ignore the fucking tabloids. Just ignore the "blogosphere". Wait until there is some official news rather than posting "BATMAN 3 - no OFFICIAL NEWS" headlines - we know they attract traffic but can't we have a few batman news free days especially as there is NO BATMAN NEWS.
BTW I heard Richard Simmons as the Phantom Stranger...

I like the Supes-as-Enemy concept - any of the other Rogues Gallery villains are going to seem a little lightweight after TDK. Jolie as Catwoman? That's one sick mangy pussy...

they should do harley queen and the riddler, its the perfect pairing, harley queen could be the jokers psiquiatrist in arkham, they can just say that the joker just dissapeared and then a series of murders in the tradition of the joker start reemerging and everyone thinks its the joker but! its the riddler and harley queen, and it could make perfect sense, since the riddlers modus operandi is a little like the jokers in the dark knight except without litteral riddles, that could be like bringing back the joker, but elementally, and i think scalett johanson could be harley and jhonny depp the riddler

Im for bringing in Superman. The original Superman did so many things right (Krypton's look, the fortress of solitude, Clark Kent's bumbliness), it's pointless to reboot. DONNER'S SUPERMAN vs NOLAN'S BATMAN.

WHAT! they havn't even spoke about it yet. Well shit, get to work. The last 2 batman movies were the best comic book movies iv'e ever seen. Hurry up Goyer and Nolan you lazie basterds I wanna see another one.
