PERVASIVE STRONG BRUTAL PUNISHER VIOLENCE

There have been a lot of rumors swirling around Punisher: War Zone, many of them about friction between director Lexi Alexander and the suits at Lionsgate. One of the scarier rumors was that the studio wanted Lexi to deliver a PG-13 cut of the film; anyone who saw the red band footage that premiered at Comic Con knew that the likely only saving grace of this movie would be the extreme, hardcore violence.Well, fret no more - the latest round of MPAA ratings are here and Punisher: War Zone gets the big red R for 'pervasive strong brutal violence, language and some drug use.' I would have liked to see titties mentioned in there, but I'll take bloody death by chair leg any day.
So that's out of the way. But keep in mind that Jonathan Hensleigh's bad Punisher got that same 'pervasive strong brutal violence' and that movie was a sissy version of Frank Castle. Still, what we've seen blows that film out of the water, violence-wise. The question remains as to whether this movie will be watchable in between the kills.

The fat guy's head exploding had me laughing for a good 10 minutes. That alone earns it at least $6 for a matinée viewing. Maybe a full price if there's nothing else coming out that week and I don't feel like waking up early.

Ask any actor who has ever worked for Lexi and they will confirm that she is completely nuts, leaves them hanging and lets the D.P. direct the film. There's a reason she gets attached to movies and then can't cast them as the word is out on her. And anything online about the big, bad studio harming Lexi's alleged vision is ridiculous. They're just trying to find a releasable cut of a film and that doesn't involve the Madness of Queen Alexander.

Actually...have him fight Jigsaw to an Evanescence song and you can count me in.
Either way, if the highlight reel they gave us earlier this summer is still in the flick, it may be worth an admission ticket.

Devin, as an Italian American from Brooklyn, I'm shocked you aren't outraged that this is the 3rd fucking try at a Punisher film, and that they STILL have not casted an ACTUAL ITALIAN AMERICAN in the role. So far its been 2 blonde honkies and a Brit!

Just watched OUTPOST with Ray Stevenson in the lead. I actually have good feelings about this movie. I was sold when I seen the scene in the new trailer were Frank walks up behind a goon adn sticks his knee into the goons back and snaps his neck. Quality!

the punisher is my favorite marvel character and as shitty as this movie looks... and lets face it, it looks totally shitty... i will be seeing this opening day, first showing because i cant wait to see something thats better than thomas jane's punisher. and as shitty as this looks it looks 20 times better than that piece of feces, unfortunatly im a punisher fan so i still bought it

Did he just call the 2004 Punisher a sissy version of Frank Castle? Is he stupid, from what it looks like, this film has no character development at least Frank's character did.
The new movie is senseless, creative gory killing. At least the old movie had good performances both by Travolta and Jane. It was a good Punisher movie and this new guy looks nothing like Frank Castle. He's way too big.

Good performances by Travolta??? Jane did a fairly good job with a fairly bad script and a boring, long-winded movie was the result. You haven't seen anything of this movie except violence. Reserve your judgements for when you see it, and THEN you can decide if senseless, creative gory killing is the only thing going for it, or if there is character development too. For one, I think the scene at the cemetary looks very promising.

Thomas Jane is actually a very good actor, did you not see Boogie Nights, I actually quite enjoyed his version of Frank Castle, unfortunately FX has played it out, I'm looking forward to this new movie solely because I am a huuuuuuuge fan of the comic books and have been like my whole life
