BRETT RATNER ADDS GOD OF WAR TO PILE OF MOVIES HE'S TALKING ABOUT MAKING

UGO caught up with Ratner at some event or other this week and asked him the probing 'What are you doing next?' question, and in addition to that Playboy movie and Beverly Hills Cop IV, he name dropped a God of War movie. I don't think this is 'news', but neither was that 'Ratner wants to do a Guitar Hero movie' thing that came from the Walter Cronkites at MTV News a month back. Sometimes you gotta fill space.
Ratner's talked about God of War before, and I'm sure that some people will get up in arms about it, but I'm officially at outrage fatigue when it comes to video game movies. Who cares, essentially. God Of War is a good game, but it's relentlessly shallow in its 14-year old boy fascination with sex and violence, so I think Ratner would be kind of an ideal director for it. This is a movie that would be served best by a chugging electric guitar soundtrack, as well as some hip hop beats, and Ratner is just the guy to figure out which needledrops work best in ancient Sparta.

Who is going to "get up in arm's about it?" I don't think a single person in the entire known universe gives a shit one way or the other.

Well, I couldn't care less about any video game and never have. I don't get it. But of course there are going to be loads of pissed off fans because that's what happens on the internet. Devin write an article, any article about anything, and he gets heaps of scorn. So I tend to think of geek rage as a given, personally. No trouble buying that premise.

Did you know Activision paid Brett Ratner money, REAL LEGAL TENDER, to come up with a name for Guitar Hero 4? You heard me, Activision paid this guy to create the name "Guitar Hero: World Tour".

I'd give real legal tender to watch Brett Ratner and Devin kill each other in a Roman coliseum, gladiator style. Winner? Everybody!

A video-game movie is like any other movie; give it a decent budget, solid actors and a good director, and you'll usually get something worth watching. Hollywood finally figured this out for comic books, I'm sure it will happen here to.

The only thing that WOULD piss me off is if it were rating pg-13. Thats the thing that really annoys me, the video game rating board makes this game unavailable to minors, but we all know its bs and minors play it anyway, which means hollywood will probably shit this out at a pg-13, so that all the kids who aren't SUPPOSED to be playing the game (even though we know they are) can see the film.
This movie should be a hard R based on the violence alone. On top of that, almost every female character is at least partially nude. Considering that the "Rat" has done, what, 2 R rated films out of how many pg-13? Red Dragon and Money talks? It doesn't look good.
