I still haven't seen
Transsiberian, which could hurt Woody Harrelson's slowly re-emerging profile, but after a long dormant period where I'd lost almost all interest in watching the actor, a series of amusing turns in various films (
The Grand,
No Country For Old Men,
Semi-Pro and, I suppose,
A Scanner Darkly) served to remind me that Harrelson could be a better screen presence than, say, John Travolta. I didn't even care that he'd signed up for Emmerich's
2012 paycheck. So have Oliver Platt, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Danny Glover. Everybody needs a big one once in a while.
But Zombieland? Raising interest for a zombie flick at this point that isn't
World War Z...tough road to run. The horror-comedy written by
The Joe Schmo Show's Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will star Harrelson as a zombie hunter named Albuquerque who is half of
"a mismatched pair of survivors
who find friendship and redemption in a world overrun by zombies." Ooooh, I get it. The whole thing is a metaphor.
Music video director Ruben Fleischer will direct.
