If you've ever argued that Tom Jane was meant for bigger things, get ready to be validated. In the HBO pilot Hung, directed by Alexander Payne, Jane will star as a high school basketball coach blessed with gear like John Holmes. Tired of doing little more with his blessing than rolling it in paint in order to freshen up the lines on his gym floor, the guy turns it to his advantage. The pilot is based on a spec script by DMitri "The Riches" Lipkin and Colette "Just sold a schlong script" Burson, and HBO is prioritizing it along with Bored to Death starring Jason Schwartzman. Burson once suggested to Variety that the way to approach the character is to "think of him like Spider-Man. He's an average guy who gets in touch with his innate super powers."
I can't wait to see the bus ads.
