I haven't hyperventilated since grade school. Who has a brown paper bag?

NERDGASM: LYNCH PRODUCES HERZOG
Hot on the heels of the almost too ridiculous to be true news about Werner Herzog remaking Bad Lieutenant with Nic Cage comes word of the movie he postponed in order to blow our minds.

My Son, My Son sounds like it'll be old-school Herzog, a violent and heavily-themed low-budget guerrilla shoot about "a San Diego man who acts out a Sophocles play in his mind and kills his mother with a sword." The narrative structure will cut back and forth between the man's story -- based on true events -- and the core murder sequence. Shades of Lost Highway, there. Someone call Bill Pullman.

Maybe I'm just thinking that because David Lynch is exec producing. My boxers exploded when I first read [in THR] that Lynch was teaming with Herzog, and even though they're working together primarily in a business capacity (Lynch's company Absurda is repping My Son, My Son at Cannes and Absurda's Eric Bassett is producing) I'm still swooning at the idea of their names appearing on the same picture.

Herzog will start Bad Lieutenant in July, subsequently make My Son, My Son on digital video, then move onto The Piano Tuner for Focus. Keep your eyes open in the next few weeks and you might even get to see his Antarctica doc Encounters at the End of the World. The man cannot be stopped. What a wonderful world.
