The composer for
Fallout 3 has just been announced, and it's none other than
Inon Zur.
Uh, who? While he might not be a household name, his latest work was for
Crysis, and won him pretty much universal acclaim. The guy's no stranger to the game industry, either, as he's worked on all sorts of games and franchises like
Company of Heroes,
Prince of Persia, and
Fallout Tactics (although a few of you purists might groan at that)... and a whole lot of
Power Rangers episodes.
“Fallout 3 is one of the most engaging and demanding projects I've scored,” said Inon Zur. “It was very rewarding to put all my creative energy into supporting Bethesda's vision for the game. I’m very proud of the outcome, and look forward to sharing the music with the players."“We’ve wanted to work with Inon for a long time,” said Todd Howard executive producer of Fallout 3. “He brings so much to the table, in terms of his talent, background, and the music that’s influenced him. He’s created a score that has epic sweep; from the lonely ambience of the wasteland to dramatic fights for survival.”
The
official Fallout 3 site has up three tracks up- the main theme, and what seems like two themes from various locations. Have to say, I dig what I hear. The music has a very empty, lonely quality to it... almost like a western, which is perfect for the post-apocalyptic landscape it will fill. The main theme sounds like a bit of a mashup of the themes of
Crysis and
Prey, which ain't bad at all... powerful and pumping.
And the wait for
Fallout 3's release gets longer still...
