TRICK 'R TREAT NEEDS A NEW HOME

Word on Michael Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat has been pretty good so far. A rough cut of the sorta-anthology flick, which features four interwoven Halloween tales, has been given a good review by Brad at Bloody Disgusting, and has seen AICN and a few other sites throw in support as well. Not among the supporters: Warner Brothers.
The studio bumped the film from October '07 to sometime in '08. Now Bloody Disgusting reports that WB has dropped the film altogether. Legendary Pictures has evidently begun to screen the film in hopes of finding a new distributor. One would have to guess that a DVD release will happen, at the very least, but a theatrical run is looking less likely. Maybe Senator can step in to save the day, assuming they've got any coin left after Mandy Lane.
EDIT: Devin wonders if the movie's association with Bryan Singer, a producer on the flick, is part of the problem. Post-Superman, Singer has an...uncertain relationship with Warners. Could that be part of the equation here? Regardless, between Valkyrie's dumping and this, his stock is shaky.

Holy godo god. Maybe this means it's eithr :so rife and crap it'll take forever to see the light of day and will get tons of money for sheer curiosity seekers alone(and get a sequal to cry for) or... it's actually cuttign edge genius enough they don't know how to market it to the masses and so they dropped it off their roster for more easily upchucked fodder. It' sbeen a while since I've seen a decent Antology film in theatres.. hmmm

Saw this film at BNAT and adored it. I mean I'm not a big slasher film fan but I really really like a good solid scary movie and this definitely was one. Shame to see such badassery get shelved.

If there were ANY possibility of being good, it would at least get a limited release: see "Southland Tales" and "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang." Of course, only one of these supposedly "unmarketable" films was actually good.

Bryan (with a "Y") Singer presents... another mediocre movie that you can spends hours arguing about how good it COULD have been.

This news is especially surprising since I saw costumes for kids of Sam at the Halloween products convention in Las Vegas just last month.

Instead of screwing with Spike Jonze's "Where the Wild Things Are", why not just drop it (UNCUT) and give it to a studio who will appreciate it?

Again, Devin proves to be an idiot...
