Video interviews on CHUD. I know what you're thinking: What did I do to deserve this, and will I be able to unsee what has been seen?
You may remember that last week I went to Hawaii for the junket for Forgetting Sarah Marshall, the new romantic comedy from the Apatow camp. Written by and starring Jason Segel, it's about a guy whose TV star girlfriend breaks up with him for an English rocker; trying to get over the pain he takes a Hawaiian vacation and discovers she's staying at the same resort he is, with her new boyfriend.
Video is new to me, and what a way to pop my cherry. We're still figuring all of this out - how to do these interviews and how to present them - so hopefully you'll bear with us in the early days of this weird new era on CHUD.
I'll be bringing you video interviews for the next two weeks leading up to the film's release. Let's start with my intro, filmed on the gorgeous beach of Oahu's North Shore...
The first interview is with Russell Brand, the English comedian who plays Sarah Marshall's new boyfriend. Brand is not that well known in the US, but Forgetting Sarah Marshall - which he essentially steals - may go a long way towards changing that. Brand's life story (documented in his memoir, My Booky Wook) is filled with debauchery and drug abuse, and is being turned into a film by Michael Winterbottom. But not many people know that Brand is deeply involved with the Inuit people...

I"m having trouble finding a thread for this so until I do...
I dig the video thing. Interesting first interview, and a little weird to see, but I like it.tt

We, the Essex Inuit, are proud of our son, Little 'Gina Russell Brand River. He has stepped across the great divide to pour the wisdom of our magic into the minds of the warm ones. Step forward and grace them bravely with the power of the ice-cube, young Little 'Gina.
We wait for your return with tales of heroism.

What's with the fuzzy thing that occasionally pops up, all blurry-like, in the foreground of the "introduction"? Is Devin being fellated-upon by some pre-adolescent?

Russell Brand makes me want to see this movie just from his interviews.
His interview at IESB is fucking hilarious as well.

First of all, thanks for the better format for the videos. Secondly, that was pretty damned funny. Nothing of interest about the movie (which is fine because every dog-breath entertainment show will have the same soundbites in video form for the next two weeks anyway) but very funny. Count me among the fans of the ever expanding Chud coverage.

The interview is fine and all, but I don't think I'm down for the video part of it. I'm ok with print, although it would have been cool to see Devin get punched by TheDreyfuss.

I love the new video format. It's like an entertainment TV show, but wihtout the censors, and distorted through CHUD! For a video virgin, Devin did a great job in the intro and the interview. He has an inviting voice, and lacks those stupid filler words which plague most first timers. Guess his G4 experience paid off. Keep 'em coming. It's a little strange, but a nice extension.

I'd love to see an interview like this on Access Hollywood. I'd also like to own that Scott Pilgrim shirt.

Russell is the best interview ever. More people should take this approach and stop being so boring. Go Russ!!!!
