I PRAY TO GOZER THE GOZERIAN THAT WE DON'T GET A GHOSTBUSTERS 3 ANNOUNCEMENT AT COMIC CON

If I had known that Wonder Con would turn into such a big deal, I would be up in San Francisco right now. But I'm here in Studio City, missing out on all the fun. Thankfully Peter from Slashfilm is up there, and he's come across an interesting thing in the con program: an ad featuring the Ghostbusters symbol that says 'SOMETHING EXCITING IS COMING TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD! Look for the big announcement at Comic Con San Diego 2008.' It's from Sony Home Entertainment.Peter is speculating that this could be an announcement of an animated DTDVD Ghostbusters 3, which Dan Aykroyd talked about on some Canadian country music station a year ago. I believe that this Ghostbusters 3 - which has all of Manhattan becoming hell - has turned into the Ghostbusters video game, so I'm hoping that we're being spared a CGI return of the jumpsuited spook chasers. What's more likely is that this is a major Ghostbusters Blu-Ray announcement, although I can't for the life of me imagine why it would be exciting enough to tease months in advance.
If you're someone in the know, drop me a line. I'd like to hear more about this.

The 3 most under appreciated lines in Ghostbusters:
1. You're right Ray. No human being could stack books this way.
2. I'll tell you what I'm gonna' do. I'm gonna' solve your little Gozer problem...
3. Gozer was very big in Sumeria.

Maybe there'll be an extended dream sequence when Ray gets blown by the ghost. Maybe that's what all the excitement is about.

Pssh. It's just a new trailer for the videogame.
So I heard...

Yeah, it's mostly likely the video game.

This will be the official announcement of the video game, which is said to have all the principal actors on board.

It's got to be the videogame we saw teased on YouTube last year.

In a Game Informer article Ramis and Aykroyd both said that Ghostbusters 3 storyline and all IS the videogame.

It's probably going to be a 25th anniversary dvd release/panel deal.

I hope it's a new breakfast cereal.

Perhaps we'll get a prequel movie, with the origins of Slimer

Every video game magazine that I have read seem to all agree that Ghostbusters 3 is going to be a video game. And this game is completely different from that clip that was making the rounds last year. Almost every game magazine has already covered this so its probably the game and maybe a CGI movie to go along with it. you know like TMNT or the upcoming Star Wars

Back off man, I am a scientist.

It'd be cool if they had shot some of this in secret ala Cloverfield and just drop a new trailer on us.
But...then again, the movie couldn't possibly live up to the classic original nor the flawed (but still great) sequel.

Nobody's jumped to the obvious conclusion that an announcement at the San Diego COMIC-Con regarding Ghostbusters could mean a Ghostbusters comic book/series?

So be good! For goodness sake... whoa ohhh, somebody's comin'...

But there is already a comic book series, at least there used to be.

- You know you don't look like a scientist.
- They're usually pretty stiff.
I love it when she then says "You look more like a game show host" and in Part 2 he actually becomes a show host.

Overglock (comment #20) obviously hasn't been the San Diego Comic-Con in sometime. Comics probably the smallest attraction and generate the least amount of buzz. Movies and video games have taken over this event.
Dan Aykroyd's been on record stating that the upcoming videogame IS Ghostbusters 3. It's probably a game trailer or a demo of the game.

It could have been a room on the spaceship made to look like the hotel. I can't be sure about that, Peter.

It's unfair my parents didn't screw earlier. I might have actually caught that Caddyshack reference before now if I was a tad older.

Ghostbusters 3 will stil be in CGI! I'm glad you have that on there but to let you know the videogame is a remake of the first GB movie in videogame format! Dan wouldn't lie on the Country Radio Station because thanks to Bill to voicing his Dr. Peter Venkman Role GB3 in CGI WILL STILL BE HERE!!! It says in many reports that GB3 in CGI is a GO and thats AWESOME! In the GB3 news in CGI is still going to be happening!

Patrick,
The video game takes place after Ghostbusters 2 in the year of 1991 and is NOT a remake of the first two films. Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis wrote a new story for the video game. Here are a couple of other sites (with correct information on the game) you may want to check out:
