There’s Anthony Hopkins, in all his Hitchcockian glory. This make-up job is for his performance in Hitchcock, one of the two biopics on the famous director that are in the pipe. This is the one with a ton of stars and focuses on the making of Pyscho, and is being directed by Sacha Gervasi (Anvil! The Story Of Anvil). The rest of the cast includes Helen Mirren as the directory’s wife, Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles, James D’Arcy as Anthony Perkins, along with Toni Colette, Danny Huston, Michael Stuhlbarg, Michael Wincott, Kurtwood Smith, Wallace Langham and Ralph Macchio.
Don’t confuse this with the Julian Jarrold project called The Girl, which is about Hitchcock’s relationship with his leading lady, Tippi Hendren. It’s a BBC drama that stars Tobey Jones and Sienna Miller, so this isn’t a total Capote/Infamous situation, but it’s certainly reminiscent. Tobey Jones is too good to be the knock-off biopic actor, so I wish his agent had better timing.
I didn’t realize there was already a look at his version of Hitchcock, but turns out there is. It’s not nearly as impressive a transformation, but I’m sure Jones will be great.
