Terrorism: it’s still really good for business! And it seems to have drawn director Ridley Scott’s constantly oscillating attention span.

Scott has apparently (momentarily) decided to focus on the spy thriller Penetration, a non-porn spy thriller that I already wrote about a couple of months ago. Scott has implied his complicity by setting his Kingdom of Heaven writer William Monahan to adapting the David Ignatius espionage novel about a CIA agent hunting a terrorist in Jordan. The agency spook gets teamed with a local operative, and they clash over moral and cultural differences. If they can get Steve Zahn to play the CIA guy, it’ll be hilarious!

Anyway, Scott first has to make his way through the recently resuscitated crime flick American Gangster before he travels back to the Middle East. And by then, he’ll probably already be considering another dozen projects.
