Chronically grumpy-faced Mark Wahlberg spoke out yesterday to moviefone, regarding the reports that he was going to be a part of The Crow reboot.
“We never committed to making the movie. They talked to me about it and there was a director attached who I was a fan of, and he’s no longer doing it. We just thought about it – ‘is there something cool to be done there?’ But we’re not committed to making the movie”.
The director Wahlberg refers to as liking was Stephen Norrington, who we reported last month was leaving the production due to “creative differences”.
In the same article Wahlberg goes on to talk about his upcoming projects, like his remake of Reykjavic Rotterdam, the highly-rated Icelandic film about a security guard who is forced to turn to other means of income after being fired.
So with no more Wahlberg on The Crow (although it’s now obvious he was never really on board to begin with), maybe the studio will forget about the whole thing altogether and let this franchise enjoy the death it should have had years ago.
