A week or so back we told you about Humpty Dumpty, the new 3D horror film from David R. Ellis, the mastermind behind Snakes on a Plane and Final Destination 2 (a movie so good it continues to leave me in awe). At the time I didn’t put 2 and 2 together, but what Ellis is making here is essentially X-Tro in reverse: rednecks rape an alien lady and their half-breed spawn goes on a killing spree. FUCKING GENIUS. And in 3D.
What will that alien spawn look like? Something like the beastie featured in the concept teasers below, which are found on the movie’s MySpace page (via Shock Til You Drop. Who still goes to MySpace?). The second poster has a little bit of text at the bottom that makes me wonder if Ellis et al aren’t planning a viral component for their marketing.
I like what I see, but with a caveat: this creature MUST be practical! That design will work with a suit/puppet, but will look too cartoony in CGI. Hell, it looks right on the edge of cartoony now…
