When John Cazale died in 1978 he had only starred in five feature films. Only five movies make up his entire legacy. Thankfully for his legacy, those films are:

The Godfather
The Conversation
The Godfather, Part II
Dog Day Afternoon
The Deer Hunter

Five masterpieces. Every single movie he was in was nominated for Best Picture (he also appears in The Godfather, Part III, which was also nominated for Best Picture), a feat that no other actor (who is in more than one film) is likely to ever repeat.

I Knew It Was You is a documentary about Cazale, and it’s playing Sundance. That’s the poster for it above. This is a movie I’m pretty excited to see when I get to Park City.

Thanks to Hollywood Elsewhere for the poster.
